The story is well written, but for some odd expectations about how the party leave the final scene. The encouters are a joke and need serious work.

The story was good, the encounter design was not. if you run this module you should seriously look to scaling up the encounters to tier three scale.

I really struggled with Bonus Objective B. The stated objective was so hamfisted the party should get it without trying. The more intriguing bit of infromation was too obscure to dig out, but much more worthy of investigation. Otherwise its not a bad module, a little more depth on the Scene E. restaurant would be nice.

DDAL-ELW00 What's Past is Prologue

Pros and Cons: Pros:

  1. The Zero-Level Characters who will grow into campaign NPCs is brillaint.
  2. The NPCs are sufficiently well developed to make for fun role-play.
  3. There is ample opportunity to avoid combat completly if your party so desires.
  4. The puzzle on the 2nd ship is pretty good.

Cons:

  1. The Zero-Level character lack any proficieny bonus making profiency useless. (Give them a +1)
  2. The plot is rally just the module autor telling a story without any meaningful agency for the players. (I'm not sure there is a fix for this since the modue is the author trying to tell their own story, not providing a settign for the players to tell theirs)
  3. The first ship lacks description and deck plans making it obvious to the players that it is not important. (Add a description and deckplan of the first ship)
  4. Combat, if the player so choose, is deadly for characters of this level. (This might just be a flaw with Zero Level Combat)
  5. The absurdity of a couple of scholard being hired as unintential pirates who survive ship to ship combat then sneak a ship into port is a real challange to suspension of disbelief. (Consider re-shaping the party to make this a little less absurd or instead of hiring them, shanghai them)

DDAL07-18 Turn Back the Endless Night

The story was fantastic, the mechanics of the final encounter leave a lot to be deisred. There were several clear RAW violations in the final fight plan for the foes. My players were mature enough to accept it and move on, but this should not have happend in an adventurer's league module. That being said the encounters were both notstalgic and creative. The maze was well designed and the descriptions energizing. The ecnounter with the mount and its rider had my players on their feet. If the author fixes the mechanical problems in the final fight this might be one of the best AL modules out there (I liked the hand drawn maps).

I enjoyed running the module, there were some spectacular roleplay opportunities, and the end boss fight was spectacular. This was one of the most epic feeling modules of the series.

This module was very cleverly written, right up till the end. Throughout there was a magical mix of interesting low CR threats with devestating environmental effects. The end encounter was pretty pathetic compared to the previous encounters. The story was pretty good, but needed more opportunity for exposition.

DDAL07-15 Streams of Crimson

by Kevin H. [Verified Purchaser]

This module has a good story well told, an interesting NPC with lots of future potential and the most challenging environmental effects I've yet seen. The combat sould not have been as hard as it was, but the aforementioned environmental effects were pretty devestating. That and no opportunity to rest really had some significant downstream effects. The timeline in the final encounter was very ambitious on the part of the authors, my table invalidated the round twelve development by round four, making their fight much more difficult.

This was a satisfying conclusion to the Tier II trilogy. The well crafted story of the two main antogonists is very difficult to present to the playes as written. In retrospect, I'd introduce some more exposition to reveal the pathos of the story and get the players a little conflicted about their course of action. The first encounter's a little flawed as you cannot awaken a monstrosity (RAW).

I loved this adventure. My players have mixed feelings. Good role-playing almost caused a TPK as we bascially repeated the fight in the flooded village. The RP opportunities were great and the combat satisfying. Overall a very well written module.

This module did a good job of setting up the rest of the series and keep the theme for the season. Once into the heart of the module it got a very Indiana Jones feel, the pace picked up and did not end till the conclusion. There are some good early on role-play opportunities.

The culmination of the tier three modules actually culminates the story. The module sets up some pretty deadly encounters, I was expecting the first boss to be more dangerous, but the harpoon trap proved double deadly. The language around the end encounter was a little confusing, but proved suitably epic.

This is one of the better season seven stories. The motivations are clear and the story flows well. The combat is very balanced, even if the end boss it significant.

This is an intriguing adventure with rich NPCs and a good story. There are some VERY complex parts of the adventure, so read and wargame this module before you run it. Consider adjusting the end boss' spell list for maximum effect.

I'm not sure how the players were supposed to figure out the crystal in the next to last room, they got there eventually but only with some accidential hints from me.

These are five very solid adventures, but this should be listed as five two hour adventures not one hour each. They have rich role play potential, dampened by the time constraints.
