Everlasting Order

Behind this awesome name hides an order of undead. The document contains a handful of stat blocks for the bosses of this group as well some background on the group as a whole. I think this would work well as a basis for an undead themed campaign but be aware that a lot of additional material is still needed for this to work. I really liked the cover and the feeling the descriptions convey.

Disclaimer: This is not an actual play review, so I can't really say how good the stat blocks work.

Oh thank you! Sorry I didn't see this earlier, DMsGuild didn't notify us. I'm planning a big expansion on it soon. Including lair, lair actions and a bit more lore. If you have any other things you'd love to see added on, please let us know and we'll do our best to add it in!

D&D 5e: Temple of the Spider

The Temple of the Spider is a 29 page adventure with several encounters. It can probably be run in one or two sessions. The adventure is quite linear which can be a good or a bad thing depending on taste.

What I liked:

  • The adventure is strong on flavor. The descriptions of the NPCs make them really come alive to me.
  • The adventure has hooks how to connect the PCs emotionally to the plot.
  • The formatting makes the adventure easy to run.
  • I would say that little prep time is needed, you could probably read section by section without prior knowledge.

What I did not like:

  • I am not a fan of linear adventures. The tale was too linear to me.
  • I found the end a bit unsatifying (no spoilers here!)

Buy this if you like story-driven flavorful adventures and you have little time for preparation (5 Stars). Do not buy if you are a fan of large, complex dungeons (2 Stars).

The Forbidden Book - Caverns of Kehill [StLion]

This adventure is a really neat dungeon crawl. On the one had, it is "beer and pretzel" but on the other hand, it is not your average dungeon. I like the weird characters you meet for example. Also, there is a villain clock which adds some nice dynamics. This adventure is ideal for a one shot eveneing.

The dungeon maps have a nice retro feel to them and the cover is just awesome. There is also a lot of balancing suggestions as well as roleplaying advice.

What I liked the least is that there are no booksmarks which is probably OK for a 10 pager. Also there are one or two spots where the module is unclear. Still, no show stoppers.

Disclosure: I was one of the playtesters for this module and I know the author.
