I picked this up a long time ago when DMing was more of an aspiration than an actual thing that I did. Now that I'm filling the role, I decided to blow the virtual dust off and see what the author had to say.

There's lots of great info - and examples - in the book and it was presented in a way that even things I'd heard before felt new and more helpful.

This is a great 'Stuff every DM is gonna ask' document. I summarizes a LOT of advice I've found in little pieces on different blogs/videos, etc and says it all in a quick, conversational tone that's enjoyable to read.

Just buy it. It's useful.

A well written and organized collection of DM tips, tricks, and tools useful for the novice or veteran. Every concept explored in this resource is explained in simple language with wonderful examples provided. A great addition to ANY DMs tool set.

I've been DMing for little over a year now, and though I'd been told and experienced some of the tips in this book, there were many other's I'd never considered, including links to helpful content.

Reading through this, there are many items you may want to smack yourself for not considering (looking at Rule 6. Pull out your Creative Writing 102 notebooks, personally) but also many that just make damn good sense (like Rule 11. Critical success also means Critical Failure, but Critical Failure should have a positive effect., which means missing can still play into the Rule of Cool.)

Overall, take Rule 26 – Keep improving yourself to heart, and get this book.

This product is a well-written and very informative guide that I think every new and new-ish DM should at least peruse (heck, some experienced DMs may want to take a look, as well). There are a lot of great tips in here, and I, for one, will definitely be incorporating most of them into my DMing style.
