I love this module not only because it was written by a female writer, of which I feel D&D needs more of, but because of the agency it allows seasoned DM's or DM's who arent afraid of improvisation and story telling.

The story is open ended allowing for the DM to TRULY make it their own. Through experienced role playing on the DM's part you can weave a tale that is custom fit to your groups interests and the direction they choose to go in.

There is, in my opinion, a well defined story here, that leaves ample room for the DM to play with if you choose, or follow as prescribed and run a no fuss adventure that be run from 2-4 hours.

This is part of a 3 part series that is very synergistic and I highly reccomend buying and reading all 3 to get the complete arc of events before running.

If you are a new DM maybe reach out to a long time DM you know and have them help you through the story arc and get ideas on how to make it perfect for your group based on their characters backstories and alignments. Every group will be different.

5/5 would highly reccomend*

*For more experienced and seasoned DM's.

DDAL04-09 The Tempter (5e) is another good story told well. A great follow-up to DDAL04-08. The stories flow seamlessly. Great job.

DDAL04-08 The Broken One (5e) is awesome and tells a good story. The element of fear and paranoia in Barovia is pulpable in this module. Highly reccomend.
