Very excited to get this, mostly because I really wanted the print option. The print job is quite clean....even though it appears to be created from a digital scan of an original document.

Most of the text is alright, but the final map of the village is terrible quality with fading and stains. Gross.

The scan isn't the greatest (especially the village map), but it is legible and usable. I appreciate being able to get a physical copy for a reasonable price. This iconic adventure is 4 stars only because of quality issues, otherwise, 5 stars would be a given. Fortunately I also purchased the pdf, and if they ever get an updated (cleaned up) map of the village, I'll at least have that coming my way via the automatic updates through their DTRPG desktop app.

I just recieved the Priit on Demand version. This is obviously a scanned copy. But I appreciate that- The look and "feel" is right. It's completely legible and usable. I do wish there was a way for the map to be on the inside of the cover like the orginal, instead of two seperate pages, but they are next to each other and usable. Some have mentioned the quality of the map scan, and they're right- this was obviouly someone's "well loved" copy, and I think that it's hilarious and actually adds to the value, and is a plus. Somehow it just isn't a proper module from the late 70s-early 80s without a pizza grease stain or two on the maps! That being said, the map is fully functional and legible. If you're looking for a physical copy and don't want to spend for one at an auction site, or want one with will hold up to continued use, I recommend this.

Everyone knows and loves Hommlet, it's one of the best classic adventures out there, and it's already been discussed to death.

The POD of this is really good. The scan is incredibly clear, everything looks great. Because of the binding, there's a common problem in which maps and text that goes right to the edge of the page gets lost in the binding and is hard to read. This POD solves that problem in an interesting way, by printing an overlap between the two halves of the map. This has its own issues, specifically that you can normally see the bit in the middle of the spread twice, but really DriveThru have picked the best solution to this problem short of printing the map seperately (as was originally done).

Especially for the price, I'm really happy to own this adventure in a quality, useable print!

WOTC's scan of this module's maps is terrible. Their source file had stains and creases on the map, which were faithfully recreated in the POD book. Should have digitally cleaned up the source file before making this available as POD.

Pros: The true classic "starter town", very detailed for the size. You can ignore 1e stats and just take the town's map and building descriptions for you hombrew or as a replacement for the flavorless starter towns that is so commonn on published adventures (adding in important locations from the adventures(

I got this to get the descriptions, it contains a short description for each building in the map, along with the owners and how much "tresure" they have hidden and where, that along is worth the price.

Cons: The town's map is divided in 2 because is an scan of the original and it doesn't have the greatest quality, but you can easily find the map as one file and with better qualiry online.

The quality of the scan is great, the clarity of the images, are more than I could have hoped for. I’m very pleased with the final product, only wish that this and other classic mods/classic booklets were available in soft/hard cover print, and not just as a PDF.

The scan of this is absolute trash. It's slanted and cuts up the map of the town. One half of it is in the front of the PDF and you have to scroll all the way to the end to find the other half. Why are you charging 5 dollars for mediocure, low effort work? You couldn't even align the module correctly on the scanner so it isn't slanted? There's also stains and wrinkles on the map. Is that supposed to be cool or something? Why?

This was, in my opinion, the best low-level module ever published from a DMs perspective. Later modules were layed out better in many ways. Also, later modules helped with exactly what to say to players much better. However, this module taught a DM how to make a campaign environment come alive so it was not just one adventure after another without any real impact on or interaction with the world around it. Those skills developed running this adventure made me a DM other players wanted to have run their games and those same skills helped me develop the settings for other modules, my own worlds for D&D, and, later, for other games.

Wow! How to review this?

Well, it's Hommlet... About as close to the classic D&D set-up as you're going to get. This Greyhawk-based village is described in detail with lots of maps, stats, secrets and personalities.

It DEMANDS use of the AD&D ruleset, which is a bit silly but was pretty much the tone of TSR back in the day. As it stands it'll work fine with Basic D&D and is not a tough conversion to 3.5 or another fantasy system entirely.

While no full adventures are provided, it serves as a base for player characters to explore from (the much-beloved moat house is provided of course!) and naturally it is designed to be used along with the 'Temple of Elemental Evil'.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: It is THE classic populated area for me (and likely many other players too) and is pretty much as cool as you remember it being.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: The production values are, essentially, nil. The scan isn't great either.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Excellent is all I can say. I've been serching for a source of old AD&D stuff forever! Thanx a bunch RPGNow!!!!<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: It was the original cover. The PDF format is perfect.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Well printing it was tricky. But that was probably user error. I'm (lol) not the sharpest bowling ball in the lane. Have fun with your adventures people!<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

As far as I'm concerned, The Village of Hommlet is the classic introduction to AD&D 1ed. I cut my teeth on this when I was 12. Now I play periodically with my wife and my son, we take turns being the DM. This was a good adventure for a new DM. <br><br><b>LIKED</b>: It is nice that there is a village for more free-form role-laying & a dungeon for more straight-forward play.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: As a player, I'm not sure what motivated us to go the the ruins in the first place. A nice subplot in the village would have been nice.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>
