An okay adventure which will depend on how your group plays. More combat group will not be happy but a role playing group will have fun. But I had to edit the map to make things clear. And Part 3 really needed some DCs if your group is more the dice play than role play.

I expected more from this adventure. Almost have no map and a map that has is awful, almost amateur. Since I bought this book, I never buy another again. The story is good but isn't explicit several parts and the adventure expect a lot of work to the dungeon master to get the adventure working.

This adventure was a bit more on the difficult side to run. The players had a hard time trusting the main NPC driving this module, but eventually decided to do as he asked. It is a very lore heavy module, which is difficult with season 2 because the continuity is shattered in multiple places earlier on. Overall, it was a pretty good adventure with fun combat encounters and interesting characters.

Great tier 2 game...a lot of opportunities for role playing. Some RP sections aren't specific in how they go down, so you will want to plan those ahead, especially how the characters will know where to go and when they know it (some RP lead into each other, but there is no description putting them all together).

This is one of my new Favorite modules!

The story is engaging and allows for a lot of roleplay and very diverse combat.

Additionally, it's set in Mulmaster, one of my favorite settings, with appearances by that city's movers and shakers, including Rastol Shan, High Blade Drakehorn, and the titular Selfaril - all intriguing characters.

The story, by itself, truly makes the characters' accomplishments feel impactful on the City and the greater Moonsea area.

The adventure is broken up into four sections. Section 1 is an outdoors combat, Section 2 is a dungeon crawl (I was able to make use of Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and insert a Rot Troll, which was awesome. Lots of possibilities here. Section 3 is a roleplay heavy section visiting some famous, or notorious characters from Mulmaster including Zora Culkin, Sark Toliver, and a secret group that was the centerpiece of my roleplaying session! No spoilers... And the final section, an arena combat, allows for a VERY tactical arena-style combat. You can seriously make this as interesting as you'd like. I included a Chain Devil in my combat, because I had some very experienced adventurers who needed a stout challenge.

Overall, DDEX2-14 is a fantastic mid-campaign adventure, and an absolute blast to run. You can easily go over time with this one, or trim it down if you want. You won't regret running it though.

Every time I run or play a module that stands out, even a little, it is a more enjoyable experience. This mod stands out a lot. The Interactions, and potential to really roleplay one fun NPCs, along with a cool story, makes this one of my favorites!

A very lovely balance of story telling and roleplaying. The first encounter can really be short circuited by RP but the story just flows forward and takes it in stride. The character that the players support is also interesting to roleplay and has very distinctive traits that can easily be brought out with voicing and lines. If any caution is to be applied, it would be that the timing is easily exceeded and one should take care the descriptive parts do not get over long, nor so many questions asked by players that the game falls behind schedule. This module made me love Mulmaster setting as as a DM and no regrets for that!

Loved running this one. Some nice roleplay in the middle, combat in the end, with the begining being a mini dungeon crawl.

Ties up a loose end from an earlier module and give us some very memorable characters.

Pros:

  1. The scenario is quite flavourful, and best presented directly after Mayhem in the Earthspur Mines.
  2. It really develops on the Mulmaster Cloaks and their relationships with other local powers, expanding on the other factions vying for their slice of authority on the Moonsea.

Cons:

  1. The DM really needs to be on the ball to keep up the pace, otherwise it can become quite monotonous.
  2. The overall scenario doesn't quite manage to represent the core tension of the elemental cults, and the final encounter doesn't depict the flavour of the featured cult particularly well.

This is a good balanced adventure that provides a lot of role playing and world building interspaced with traps and combat. It easily creates a story that players can get caught up in regardless of character type while playing to the various roles of most parties. This is easily one of my favorite modules on the site.

This module was incredibly fun to play in. Make sure you keep your plotline straight as a DM, but overall it was very fun to play in. I think the combats were appropriately difficult, especially if you had a secret mission in the module, as they made it difficult but not without hope. Overall, I had a great time playing and running this, and it is definitely a good module to be a part of.

Hands down one of my favorite modules. Some of the factors are a little insane (i.e. what's found in those caves outside the city) but the roleplaying potential of this module is AMAZING!

Dms, should be careful to keep track of the plotlines and make sure everything happens in a logical order. Depending on how the party decides to go out recruiting allies, things can get a little chaotic behind the screen.

Also, I love it, story wise, because it feels like the redemption of the Zhentarim in AL. I've always felt that 5e zhents are more like snarky roguish anti-heros (think Han Solo or Firefly) rather than actually evil people. This module is about their attempt to be seen with more respect an admiration in Mulmaster and maybe make it out of the ghetto. I love that they have this chance.

Recommend Purchase: Yes. Playing this adventure counts towards the Season 2 quest: 'Benefits of the Brotherhood of the Cloaks' XP Range: 4500-6000 (and a Secret/Special faction mission)

Note: No Season 1, 2, or 3 module has a digital certificate to print because WotC says they can't accept volunteer help for legal reasons and won't allow their paid employees to create the certificates even though they have the templates.

The DMSGUILD site segregates reviews between people who've purchased it here and everyone else. They do NOT have a robust rating system, relying instead on the 5-star model.
