Text runs very close to the spine on many pages. It can be read but it's a little annoying and requires straightening out. .

After owning this module for years and finding it had mysteriously disappeared after many movs, I was delighted to obtain it once again, at a very reasonable cost - the scaning was excellent, and the map and writing was impeccable. I was able to contact my local UPS Store to have them print and bind it into a very servicible module fit to fill my needs. Two thumbs up!!!

Classic module which truly explained, and demonstrated, the legendary Drow Elves. This module maps out a large Drow city, in the Underdark realm. It is classic, old-school, in every way. Much of the city is left blank, for description, to allow the DM to develop it as they see fit. Key encounter areas are detailed, of course. It is not a place for the blundering warrior to waltz through, smashing every evil creature he sees... That would be suicidal. It is quite daunting to look at the city map, and realize just how much of it is a blank canvas for the DM to paint in their vision of the city. While the DM could fill in all of the blank areas, it is also possible to just gloss over the blank areas of the city, and only play those areas detailed by Gygax.

With regards to quallity of the scan, it is quite readable. The maps are clear. It is fully complete. The price is a bargain compared to rare copies which occasionally appear on sites like e-Bay, Amazon, and other online vendors of OOP books, and gaming materials. If you want a copy, buy it now. There is no guarantee it will be around in the future. Cheers!

Outstanding! D3 is probably the definitive 1e module. Pitted against everyone's favorite villains, the drow, your party will be tested like never before. Having chased the drow thru the underdark, you finally arrive at their sanctuary, a giant cavern under Oerth, filled with dark elves and their kith. You must traverse the cavern to reach Erelhei-Cinlu, an ancient drow city filled with the stuff of nightmares. This is the module we all wanted to play. This is why you made it to 10th level, this is why you smacked down the slavers, annihilated the giants, and descended into the netherdeeps of the earth. The PDF is perfect. Text looks great, maps look great, and the OCR is flawless. This is how digital conversions should look; obviously a labor of love. Do yourself a favor and buy this module. It is one of the best ever made and one of the most fun to play. Your players will thank you for it.

An early Gygax meat grinder-module, Vault of the Drow is still brimming with potential for a DM with the time to flesh it out and the moxie to pull it off.

LIKED: The Jeff Dee art! The city is truly a challenging environment for any PCs.

DISLIKED: Granted, the drow were not a cliche yet when this was written, but some of the reasons why I don't like drow now turn up as early as their first appearance (overabundance of magic items, chaotic elves in a lawful city environment, etc.).

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
a classic module from old school gaming. It shows its age some, but it's still fun.

LIKED: nice adventure, loads of fun to run.

DISLIKED: could be better fleshed out, and it lacks the polish of more modern products.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
