Mimsy's Ravenloft Shop of Treasures

60 New Magic Items and a Domain-Hopping Magic Shop
for your Ravenloft Campaigns

The paladin charged down the halls of the tomb, barely
staying ahead of the surging wave of ghouls. She had
known the tomb was full of the Darklord’s servants—
that much was always true of tombs in Ravenloft—but
she hadn’t anticipated just how many bodies could fit
into those coffins. She rounded a corner and hugged the
wall, lungs heaving, longsword gripped tightly between
her gauntlets. She stayed as still as possible: if she was
lucky, maybe the ghouls would pass her by.

The groans and gnashing of teeth approached,
shadows growing longer and longer. The paladin’s
stomach grew icy. She was listening to her death
approach—she was sure of it. She pressed herself even
closer to the wall and sent up one last prayer to her god.

Suddenly, the world came out from beneath her,
and she was falling. When she hit the ground, she was
surprised to find wooden floorboards instead of stone
tiles. Glancing up, she realized it hadn’t been a wall she
was hugging at all—it was a door, and behind it, she’d
happened upon a trove of mystical baubles and
treasures. Before she could speak, the door flew shut,
revealing the horned woman who had been standing
behind it. “You’ve arrived just in time,” the stranger
said. She extended a hand to the paladin. “We’ve got
discounts on holy water.”

Throughout the Domains of Dread, there are rumors of the Wandering Shop—an extraplanar emporium of magical wares that moves from place to place, curated by a woman known only as Mimsy. There are many different theories about the shopkeeper: some say she’s a Darklord that escaped her domain, while others believe she’s a planar traveler collecting relics from every realm of existence. Even the Vistani, veteran explorers of the Domains of Dread, refuse to speculate on exactly who Mimsy is and why she appears in each domain.

This book introduces a new resource for adventurers in Ravenloft: a mysterious shop that makes itself known to those in need of it, with tons of Ravenloft-themed magic items for them to purchase.

This title contains:

  • A roaming shop that can easily fit anywhere in (or outside) Ravenloft
  • Statistics and roleplaying information for Mimsy, the shop's keeper
  • 60 new magic items themed around the Domains of Dread and their varied Darklords

A 2-page spread from Mimsy's Ravenloft Shop of Treasures. On the bottom right, an illustration depicts a large stone hammer shaped like a tombstone, with grass and roots hanging off the bottom of the rock.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
