I'm looking at the Running a Business section and am thoroughly confused. It mentions businesses having sizes which affect profits but makes no mention of how, it mentions rolling multiple dice but doesn't say how many or why. I feel like most of the section got axed and no one bothered to double check it what was left still made sense.

A run down:
States that businesses now have sizes to determine cost and profitability but doesn't actually elaborate what that means.
Mentions profitability being determined by a Die Roll but don't mention what die or how many.
It mentions the Running a business table which isn't in Xanathar's which was the book it mentioned at the start of section but is found in the DMG, this table and it's section don't make the other rules any clearer.
It says to "Multiple the result by 10", I'm assuming this is the profits of the Running a Business table, in which case is it that you substitute out the normal factor of 5 for 10 or the end result,...See more

Artificer/Mechanics are missing a 9th level ability/option. All other Artificers have something at 9th level.

It says this is 2 volume, where is volume 2? Also, only 3 chapters in the book? This seems like half of the finished book.

I'm sorry, but this is volume 1. Volume 2 is coming soon. Where are there only 3 chapters? In the preview maybe. The preview should show the table of contents which lists all the chapters in this 93 page book. By the way, volume 2 will be even longer.

Will there be a bundle of both 1 and 2 when the second one comes out? If so I might just wait for that.

You know what? Yes, there will be, and I wouldn't blame you for waiting. Hoping to launch it by this December.

Unfortunately, after seeing the cartoony art style, this is a pass for me. I think there are interesting ideas in here, but the stark quality disparity between the two chosen art styles is too jarring to believe I'm reading serious, balanced material.

I agree. I was very interested until seeing the art inside the book.

Sorry you feel that way. Some people appreciate the diversity of art styles, and we thought it was a good decision, but if it rubs you the wrong way then you're entitled to your opinion.

Unfortunately I agree with this, the cartoonish art doesn’t appeal to me at all and it all just produces a look of being inconsistent and unprofessional.

I'm going to have to half-agree here with them. It's not the cartoony style that rubs me the wrong way, it's that the variety of styles clash too much. I own the book and like most of the art, but there's something to be said for trying to make your art cohesive, since its a package deal. As an example, and I'll shout out art I specifically think is fantastic, the Revelry Barbarian and Herald of Winter druid are done in a gorgeous... I would call it almost Webcomic style? with bold linework and coloring, vs the higher gravitas traditional fantasy artwork like the Planar Weaving Wizard and Dimachaerus, and there's absolutely nothing technically wrong about any given piece except that the book is couched as the writings of one person on his travels and most of the art doesn't feel like it comes from one world. IMO, even if you want to work with varied artists who use varied styles, I think it would have done the book a good deal of favor to A) pick one direction and have a stricter art direction towards either grit...See more

Thank you for your considerate and thoughtful critique. I personally enjoy the diversity of art styles but I can understand that you feel it's out of place for the reasons you stated. To let you in on how the sausage is made, so to speak, there are two big reasons we went with a diversity of art styles instead of homogenizing them: 1. Much of the art we used was stock art, which as you are at the mercy of what is available and suitable, are often of little to very different styles 2. While the remainder of the art is custom made for the book (I only get stock art that I feel is fitting, insisting on splurging on custom pieces to suit my vision when necessary), we choose to go for diverse artists and their diverse styles because A. having a single artist have to churn out dozens of pieces is a big burden on a single artist B. embracing the inevitable diversity of art styles allows us to let each artist express their unique styles and offer visual variety. Granted, were budget and time no expense, it would suit...See more

Likewise, the goofy 'anime'-style art does absolutely nothing for me. It's all good though, the bottom line will speak for itself and it seems like it already has given the severe price reduction of the book(s). Creatives should take note that the people who actually buy products aren't the same people that do little beyond complain on X(Twitter).

Since it is both in a pdf and physical copy, will you by any chance get a discount on the pdf if you buy the physical copy? I ask, since I love to have the books physical, but sometimes travelling for groups, and there could a pdf version be good to have as well. So would like a combined bundle if possible to a fair price.

Also a little curious, it says 2 volume, will their be a second book, and in case any chance you know, when this going to happend?

We're trying to put together a bundle of the two, just having some technical issues we'll soon resolve. In the meantime you can show me your physical book receipt and I'll just send you a free pdf.

Volume 2 is already underway! We've made a lot of progress, about 1/3 or 1/2 done already more or less. I predict we'll release it as early as November or December, or February at worst.

The bundles for either the hardcover or softcovrr version is available now. I am of the belief that a pdf version of hardcover book you buy ought to be free.

Indeed, right now, there's a link to the pdf listing in the description! They're two separate listings for dumb technical reasons.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
