Micro Dungeons: Monsters of the Realms

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Micro Dungeons is a short selection of small dungeons for both new and experienced players of 5E DnD, that can be played in a few hours, with an old school feel.

Micro Dungeons Monsters of the Realms Edition is our first edition for the DMs Guild store, with dungeons filled of creatures in the Dungeons & Dragons intellectual property, like Beholders, Mind Flayers, and more.

Micro Dungeons

Each Micro Dungeon includes:

  •  The Map. The base of every Micro Dungeon is the dungeon map. These maps are made of 10x10 ft. squares.
  •  An introduction. The short introduction  is just so you have an idea of what the dungeon is about, but you can  adapt and insert it into your own adventure as you wish.
  •  Encounters. Every room in the dungeon has traps, encounters, treasures or other stuff, and it's all described in one page.
  •  New Monsters. Every dungeon includes at  least one new monster. At the end of the document there is an appendix  with all the stat blocks for the new monsters.

Micro Dungeons

Dungeons included in this volume:

  • Maddening Roar. A bigger more intelligent Displacer Beast command a group of these mounstrocities.

  • Sunken Sanctuary. A group of Kuo-toa are about to free a colosal demon thinking it is their new god.

Couple of questions for the authors:

- Maddening Road: There are 2 NPCs in room 1 that run to room 2... Room 2 has an additional 2 NPCs... 2 stay behind while the other 2 circle round and attack from behind. Room 3 has 2 more plus a boss... So are there 6 in total plus a boss or 4 in total that move and relocate a lot with only a boss in the last room?
- Nautiloid Break: Room one has 4 NPCs that if they lose the fight they flee to Room 6... Where is Room 6? Room 2 mentions a key given to the adventurers... what key? Was this given by the people in the city that hired the adventurers? The eyeball token in Room 3 isn't included on the Doors and Traps key - what is the eyeball in the northwest corner?
- Reflections of Affection: Is it correct to assume the eyeball tokens in Room 2 and Room 3 are the statue traps that shoot elemental rays? Room 5 has some typos and a link in the text which is different than Room 4 - might want to fix for consistency.
- Sunken Sanctuary: Room 5 has an...See more

Hello ND H, Xacur and Guillermo Buenfil,

I liked your collection very much.

I occasionally work on adventures in german language and would like to offer you to translate Micro Dungeons: Monsters of the Realms into german.

If you are interested, I would be happy to hear from you.

Greetings!

Hi, Jon. The maps inside the zip file don't have any sign or note, so they should be good for players.
Or do you have a different thing in mind?

I always love your microdungeons!
However, I'm looking at "The Fallen Temple of Lolth" and there are some mistakes.
Room 3 says it can only be opened if the black orb in Room 5 is destroyed, but room 4 is "the black orb". Room 5 says it can only be opened if the red orb in room 2 has been destroyed, but room 3 is "the red orb". So, either it's a mistake, or I'm missing something glaringly obvious :)
Also, the description for the orb in room 4 says it "attracks" a phase spider, and I assume it is meant to say "attracts".
Just thought you'd like to know! As I said, love your microdungeons :)

Hello, Arielle. You are right, room 3 is only opened when the black orb in room 4 is destroyed. Room 5, can only be opened destroying the red orb in room 3.
I changed the order of the rooms to make them make sense with the order of the tasks, but it seems I forgot to change the numbers in the descriptions.
I'll fix it in a following revision. Thank you for pointing it out.

These seem pretty fun. I was in need of a couple of quick dungeons for the next part of our campaign and I can adapt these pretty well to the setting! Particularly like the Beholder idea, and also had some previous set up for a character in our group to track down a Displacer Beast so this works out kinda perfect. Thanks for your work!

Hi. For future products it would really help to have a short notice for average party level for each adventure. "designed for 4 - 5 adventures between 3-5 level" or something.

These are 5 one-page dungeons. The rest of the document are monster stats and description.
I'll add the information in the description.
Thank you for the question.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
