Does this contain a decent description of Xorvintroth, or at least part of it? I’d like to use it in my Frostmaiden campaign but have found the descriptions on season 10 very rudimentary, basic and lacking, is this any better?

I read the content warnings and knew I'd probably half a problem with the depiction of self-harm. But I didn't expect to have to step away from the table for 10 minutes over a scene that was unnecessary for the story. It only added a grim tone where innocent NPCs are exploited and put in pain for mood setting flavor. This self-harm scene being used as "flavor" made it much worse for me and felt exploitative. It can be quite upsetting if you have a loved one who committed self-harm.

Additionally, this adventure begins with large (IMO excessive) amounts of body horror. This isn't in the content warnings, but body horror is a hard no for a member of my main play group so I look for this pretty closely now.

As far as other adventure content, heed what others say about the Sudoku puzzle. Like other DRW adventures, this was not well-edited for length and can easily exceed 4 hours. A DM who knows they need to cut can cut down some less interesting encounters from the beginning and...See more

So you have to buy it to rate it, but if you've played it, you may know not to buy it. I'm assuming most people are playing this module during one of WOTC Virtual Play weekends, where you pay money with the expectation of having fun playing D&D. With that being the case, a lot of your time is taken up solving some ridiculous sudoku puzzle on steroids. Then you get to play a combat, but only if you succeed against being compelled to do something else. One of my biggest pet peeves in Adventurer's League modules is when you as player lose your action. If I wanted to watch other people play D&D I can just stream Twitch for free. So do yourself a favor - don't buy this module, and don't pay to play it somewhere else.

Looking to understand to run my tables better. Does DDAL10-05's story award: Corrupted Chardalyn Infusion get used in this adventure? Is this where to pick up after DDAL10-10/DDEP10-02?

Presumably you're past this by now, but for anyone else reading this: Story awards in DDAL-PoA and DDAL-DRW-14 through -18 do not pay off unless NPCs are getting killed. There is one in the first half of PoA that pays off in episode 5, and that's it. Corrupted Chardalyn Infusion doesn't. I Saw Forever hasn't yet, and I'm not holding my breath. The hints at Father Lymic in PoA pay off surprisingly in DRW, and I'm very excited about DMing that, but the story awards are underutilized.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
