As a thank you for the incredible community support we've received, Once Bitten will be remaining at its promotional price of 9.95 for good!

Explore gothic horror's most iconic monster in a whole new light

Breathing new unlife into a classical villain, Once Bitten explores a broad array of ways to present vampires, from gothic tyrants brooding in looming castles, to animalistic monsters ravaging mortals and beasts alike. Inside, you'll find 5 new bloodlines of vampires, with statblocks for Fledgling, Mature, Elder, Ancient, and Progenitors of each bloodline, making 25 brand new vampire stat blocks from CR 5 all the way to CR 30!

  • Angellis are masterful social manipulators with an artistic bent who use a silver tongue and stunning charm to control mortals.
  • Dracul are classical gothic tyrants, ruling over the land from massive, looming castles with massive entourages of servants.
  • Grendel are towering cannibalistic humanoids who hunger for the flesh of great and mighty heroes, and can tear apart armies of lesser warriors in their pursuit
  • Hekatan are brilliant occultists who manipulate the ambitious and power-hungry to serve their whims with offers too tempting to refuse.
  • Nosferatu are bestial predators who move more like beasts than humanoids, ruling entire environments and creating nests and dens from which to corral their prey.

Included with each bloodline is lore, NPCs, and plot hooks ready to use in any campaign! To back them up, the book also includes a chapter full of monstrosities, thralls, and servants to vex your players. Of course, some of these, such as the lesser vampires known as Palebloods, could even be allies of the players, under the right circumstances.

For those looking to embody the themes of gothic horror rather than just fight them, we've also included player options such as the Vampire Knight Fighter, and the Vampire Lord Warlock Patron, as well as over a dozen new vampire-themed spells and magic items for you to sprinkle throughout spooky vampiric dungeons, castles, libraries, and dens.

Content Warning: This book includes some disturbing content. Abuse, addiction, blood, blood loss, denigration, disempowerment, gaslighting, kidnapping, mind control, moral corruption, predation, and temptation are present throughout this book. Use safety tools and communication with players when using this content. May not be suitable for young readers.

Any consideration for making this into a Fantasy Grounds module? The Lycanthropy PDF in your Hunter Bundle was released for FG, you could have another bundle to match the current one, but for FG! Just a thought. ;)

Only if we feel it's necessary! Though I do have a bit of cutting-room floor content I may add in later, if there's interest!

I noticed some confusing wording in the 14th level feature for Vampiric Blood Sorcerer

Both the spell slot and the knowledge of the spell are
lost when the creature finishes a long rest, but the
creature can cast the spell using its own spell slots,
if it has them.

This seems like it is saying that even after a long rest they can still use the spell with their own slots but that is a direct contradiction to the first half of the sentence. Should the order be swapped here? It would then be.

"The creature can cast the spell using its own spell slots,
if it has them, but both the spell slot and the knowledge of the spell are
lost when the creature finishes a long rest."

Or better yet just separate sentences in that order.
Or attached to a previous sentence "The creature gains that spell
slot, and knowledge of how to cast that spell, but the
creature can cast the spell using its own spell slots,
if...See more

Oh, yea, intent is that the spell is known and can be cast with your own slots, and both the knowledge and the provided slot are lost after a long rest.

Hey y’all.

This looks like an awesome title, but I have an issue with the use of “Phillistines” as a name for a Vampire bloodline.

I see that you’re linking it to the story of Goliath from the Old Testament, which is a one-sided Israeli account of the early wars between the Jewish people and the Palestinians (or Phillistines) who also inhabited the land that the Israelis were in the process of conquering or dominating after escaping captivity in Egypt. Tragically, this ancient conflict has been revived in the last hundred years since the modern state of Israel was established, with heartbreaking consequences.

(I am not being antisemitic in critiquing the behaviour of successive Israeli governments - I am fiercely opposed to racism in all its forms.)

If it’s not too late, please consider changing the name of Phillistines for your Vampire bloodline. The Palestinians are suffering enough without D&D players associating their ancestors with giant...See more

Apologies for that, we hadn't intended any such connections. I'm going to talk with Jack, and see about putting out a revision. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Very glad to hear you enjoyed! Yep, a whole lot of it came out of a conversation about what WoD does with monsters that D&D could learn from, and I'd love to do more work like this. If you have a moment to leave a review, it would be much appreciated, and would help support our future endeavours. Regardless, thank you for the purchase, and for your kind words, friend >:D

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
