    • New Sorcerous Origin: Abjurant Champion. Combining the legacy of powerful abjuration magic with mastery of arms and armor, these martial sorcerers protect themselves and their companions by any means necessary;
    • New Sorcerous Origin: Darkmoon Theurge. The heavenly shadows that portended their birth give these kin to lycanthropes primal battle prowess and an ancestral tie to the Ethereal Plane;
    • New Otherworldly Patron: The Benighted City. Warlocks draw on this living city of the Shadowfell to thrive in civilization's darkest corners.
    • And more class and character options including: 8 new Eldritch Invocations for warlocks as well as cleric, druid, and wizard archetypes adapted from the author's previous works.

    • Shades. These masters of stealth exist on the border between life and death, attaining dark power through their own ambition or by the forbidden rituals of the fallen City of Shade. Includes two subraces, including the eldritch Netherese shades.
    • Shifters. Weretouched humans shaped by their lycanthropic ancestry the way tieflings were changed by the taint of fiends, shifters draw on their bestial heritage to become the ultimate survivors. Includes ten subraces from the canon of prior editions, from the deadly longtooth and razorclaw shifters to the shamanic dreamsight shifters and airborn swiftwings.
    • Elven Subraces. The demonic fey'ri and the shapeshifting lythari.

Jeremy, excellent job. I am recently working on Lycanthropy in the campaign, as a DM for curse of strahd and in my friend's game as a player with a very challenging role playing idea. I have seen the archetypes and races, so far you have done well. I'll get into the rest later as it is playtested a bit. I think the Beast cohort takes away too much from the beast master ranger and enters into the territory of why doesn't everyone just take this? Most, if not all feats are lower in power than an archetypes ability. Look at battlemaster vs. martial adept. This feat gives nearly every ability of the archetype. Perhaps limit it to just the beast and select other feats later, like Improved beast cohort and Greater Beast Cohort as a suggestion. The controlled lycanthrope is powerful too, but very conditional. You need to be playing a shifter or lythari or be infected by a lycanthrope, so it actually tones down the power of a player's lycanthropic curse. But again, perhaps the later gained abilities are further selected...See more

Hi Ryan, thanks for your kind words. Part of my reason for working the Beast Cohort feat as I did is that I expect WotC to put a new version of the Ranger and the Beastmaster out any day now, and I think the larger consensus is that the current version of the Beastmaster is already a suboptimal choice. Feats are optional in general, of course, but if you did use the feat in your game, I would encourage someone who wanted to play a Beastmaster to actually choose a different Ranger archetype (such as the generally more effective Hunter or the Moonstalker included in this product) and take the Beast Cohort feat, so that the system doesn't penalize them for wanting to play such a popular fantasy trope. Of course, I know not everyone shares the popular assessment of the Ranger and Beastmaster, so as always, DM's should exercise their own judgement about what is playable in game.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
