"Perfect for a Halloween one-shot!"

“That F******* doll….. That is creepy as hell… he (PB) is disturbed… I am going to have nightmares!”

"It definitely help shed some light on the doll and the visions were so well written!"

"It had a feeling that reminded me of Silent Hill."

"Love creepy one-shots. I also love games with multiple solutions. Really different compared to most other adventures that I’ve played!"

"They (players) were hooked right after the first vision. They seemed to get pretty scared at some points. One of them claimed they got chills during a couple of visions. Pretty good considering that we were playing in a starbucks."

The Haunt 2

Just when you thought it was safe to take a long rest. She's Back!

The terrifying SEQUEL to the PLATINUM bestselling, and Dragon+ Magazine featured horror adventure: The Haunt.

The Haunt 2 is both a one-shot, and a sequel that can be run as either. It is an 6-8 hour Horror themed adventure, designed for characters of 6th level.

Long, long ago St. Greycastle’s Hospital served the city through the years, mainly treating the wounded and sick among the militia. Over time, the lower basement was converted into a sanatorium, housing those who became maddened from enduring the violent, brutal orcs raids which plagued the region during that time. This was the place where Gertrude, the night hag, tormented patients, and created her masterpiece, the Evil Doll.

Now, after all of these years, Montarthas Manor has finally fallen, and the Evil Doll has been wounded. She has returned to the only familiar and safe place she remembers, to lick her wounds and plot her next move. Her presence in the hospital awakens the evil inside, creating a nightmarish charnel house of terror. In addition, the hospital itself feeds on fear.

Do your players have what it takes to enter the haunted and evil hospital, to finally end the haunt and terror of the Evil Doll?!

DISCLAIMER! This will be a challenging (and likely deadly) adventure for 5th level player groups of 3 to 5 players with some deadly encounters. However, ideally The Haunt 2 is tailored as a medium difficulty adventure with plenty of excitement, horror, suspense and danger for a 6th level party of 4 to 5 players.

Any advice on how to add in the lore from the first haunt game for players I'm running the haunt 2 for?

I like both stories but the second seems like the one I want to run, but I do enjoy how all three are intertwined

I’m also having trouble understanding when future state starts. Is it part of the reconstruction or after they have entered a room. Seems like it should be obvious. I’m feeling a little dense. Thanks.

I was thinking that, but it was unclear to me if future state was linked to reconstruction. Thanks!

So, I ran The Haunt last year and am thinking of running this, the second, one this year. I really appreciated having a physical book when I was running the original; Is there a way to get a softcover for The Haunt 2, on top of the pdf?

Heya David!

Firstly thank you for investing your time into this series, there is nothign better than knowing these gave you and your players joy.

Unfortunately the Powers That Be on the DMsGuild heavily control what does and doesn't get POD availability and have yet to approve my numerous requests (I actually want to release a hardcover for the entire trilogy). I am hopeful that we will be able to work something out (maybe next year). Follow me on twitter @pbpublishing1 where I am most active and any news will go there first.

Cheers

So, I love this whole series. After reading through this a couple of times, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything (because my player's are going to ask). No treasure, no items right?

Thank Brian,

And yes you are correct, no treasure.

Feel free to drop some items in if that better suits your group though :)

I am think about using this as a Halloween Oneshot in a few weeks. However my group is currently in the middle of the Margreve Forest (from KP). How well or easy would this be to incorporate into a huge forest setting? Or would it make no sense?

Thank you.

Also, I use a 50" tv as our tabletop. Would you suggest the pdf version or the Fantasy Grounds version for the maps. I do not use FG, but I wasn't sure if the maps and images might be better formatted for tv?

Hey, guys!
I'm prepping to run it, and had a question regarding maggot infection, can't figure out how it works, am I missing something? Is it left open to interpretation?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Natalya,

You know, this adventure has been out for 7 months, and sold over 500 sales... and you are the first to catch this mistake and let us know - Thank you so much :)

Yeah, there is a paragraph missing, that I assume was lost during the layout process... it should read next to the Fiendish Maggot statblock:

Fiendish maggots are foul parasites of the lower planes. These creatures grow inside sentient humanoids and burst out when reaching adulthood,, killing its host in the process.

The Demon Inside. Fiendish maggots are capable of infesting humanoids and growing inside them. When this occurs, the humanoids become visibly sick. Symptoms include pallid skin, has dark circles under the eyes and a raspy voice. With a successful DC 14 Wisdom (Medicine) check, a character identifies the symptoms as those of a supernatural curse or disease. A detect good and evil spell cast on the sufferer also reveals a faint fiendish aura emanating from inside of them.

Love the adventure and it is a beautiful layout. I would recommend that a print friendly version is made available so if you need to print it, it does not take a great deal of time and ink to print (even printing in B&W).

Hey guys,

Just a question regarding the layout of the house and the direction the module takes in regard to it.

As written it seems like theres very little (if any) reason for a party ever to go to the ground floor, the natural progression of the module seems to push parties toward collecting and destroying all the Pictures which can be found in the sub levels, none of them on the ground floor.

Outside of deciding to go upstairs at random there seems to be very little to make the party touch that area. Is there any kind of hook that I am missing after a couple of re-reads. Or Should I move one or two of the paintings up there so that the group explores that section too?

Thanks in advance for the help

Heya Daniel,

The main idea here is that going to the ground floor really is the only way of escape...ermm... leaving the premises.

Having said that, you can absolutely place a drawing in there. Feel free to swap things up to better fit your group and game :)

Cheers

Thanks guys,

Just the way I read it was that once an escape... er leave.. condition had been met, the whirlwinding started which may prevent anything happening on the ground floor.

May shift one of the paintings upstairs and see how it goes :) Thanks!

Hey guy, this is a great adventure. I played the first last year and am running them back to back for good hollows eve. Just out of curiosity, the stats for vomit spawn say it is a large creature. On the map in B3, the puddles look medium to me and four large creatures in that room seem a little snug to me. Are they supposed to be large? Or is it a slight. Again, great work.

Travis L October 15, 2018 12:57 am UTC
Hi, Eugene!

The vomit spawn are large creatures, but they are amorphous oozes who can compact to take up a small area, especially while masquerading as mundane vomit. The map spacing indicates where the vomit spawn are while dormant.

Does this mean that when active, the four large vomit spawn can pretty much blanket the entire room in sentient, malevolent stomach acid and bile?

Yep.

Happy Halloween!

Hey P.B P
Just reading through and found a possible error in the text to address in the next iteration

In the Stairwell and Receiving Room text block it says: "Double doors lead to the south, while a chamber appears to open to the west."

However, if you position the map as this text and that following it indicate, the double doors (or what appear to be double doors) are actually on the west chamber/hall.

The south area doesn't actually have a door drawn on the map.

Actually, having read and re-read the text block, it seems the issue is you have mislabeled the room to the East as being to the West. Also, you mention Double doors on this East room that do not exist on the map (they're actually on the corridor to the south).

Recommend changing the line: "Past the double doors, a chamber opens to the south, revealing a rectangular area." to something like "The Eastern chamber is a rectangular area which extends south"

If none of this makes sense let me know and I'll elaborate further.

Another East-West mix up, in the maternity ward you allude to a bed in the North-West which is covered in blood, this is actually North East on the map.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
