This book is the work of the D&D Adventurers League Administrators who wanted to dedicate something special to our fans on the anniversary of the original, longest running gaming convention in the world.

Happy 50th birthday Gen Con!

In this book you will find updates to Hillsfar and Myth Drannor that represent the choices of D&D Adventurers League players all over the world. We’ve taken the actions of your players, updated the world of Forgotten Realms, and given you six more D&D Adventurers League adventures that you can run for your players where they can explore the Cormanthor Forest and the Ruins of Myth Drannor.

Lost Tales of Myth Drannor includes the following adventures:

  • The Darkwood Webs, tier 1; DDAL00-02a
  • The Weirding Vats, tier 1; DDAL00-02b
  • Spawn of the Maimed Virulence, tier 2; DDAL00-02c
  • Echos of the Weeping War, tier 2; DDAL00-02d
  • Forgotten Foes, tier 3; DDAL00-02e
  • The Definition of Heroism, tier 4; DDAL00-02f

Similar to the Dungeons & Dragons hardcocver adventures, you will need a copy of the Monster Manual and Volo's Guide to Monsters to use this content.

NOTE: this copy includes minor editing updates over the published version that was handed out between Gen Con 2017 and Origins 2018.

This product has been nominated for an ENnies award, to be determined at Gen Con 2018! Please vote for this and your other favorite creations here:

Any changes/edits/updates to this version versus the promotional copies that were distributed?

I am guessing those of us who had a physical copy already will not be able to get any updates unless we buy the pdf?

That is correct, the free promo adventure the Admins paid for and distributed isn't tracked in any way by the DMsGuild, but hey, you got it for free! And profits from the sale of this version go towards the next book project the AL admins are doing, current referred to as Secret Project Cookie Bag, set for release for Origins, 2019.

Please note:
If you run this there is a missing monster stat block for a creature that isn't in the MM. It's missing from the chapter's Appendix as well:

This monster isn't included in the book, no. It's found in Volo's - we decided to only include stat blocks that were unique to the adventure.

A shame that this doesn't have the option to be printed in softcover booklet format. I would pay the extra money.

It'll be added shortly. We have to receive and approve the print proof still. But yes, it WILL be added.

Please can the description on this listing be updated to include an actual description of the product’s contents? I’ve heard a lot about this and I’m interested, but I want to know what it contains first. E.g. titles of each adventure and a one or two line blurb for each.

Right now the description seems to assume that you’re already familiar with the product which is... weird. It in fact addresses Adventurers League DMs directly. Wouldn’t they already own this? I’m not one. Am I not allowed to buy?

A little... The description of this product still seems to assume that it needs no introduction, and very AL-specific. Which just feels a little gatekeepy to me. I’m sure that’s not intentional, but I rushed to this page excited for what I’d find, and feel a little bit left out.

Leaving a review for what I've run so far
Chapter 4: The Darkwood Webs
This was a fun mod to run and I set it during the winter yule season flavoring the Dryad's tree as an evergreen tree and the sprite homes as multicolored hallow orbs. Some of the possible encounters are far more intriguing than others. The gnoll encounter is by far my favorite but could possibly be a tad deadly for character.

Chapter 8: Forgotten Foes
We'll start with my favorites:
(The party I ran this with were nothing but casters of various kinds)
The special totally-not-an-ooze encounter at the beginning is a fantastic "new" monster to throw a bunch of tier 3's casters on their head.
When I ran the library section "ANOTHER book" became a running trope in the party because of the constant counterspells. They all loved finding their own spells in the books.

Now for my least favorite:
The encounter at the end just didn't have the XXX needed for...See more

I have the promotional softcover versions of this book (but unable to leave a review in the review tab).
If they have not added errata to the PDF, these are the module numbers....
Chapters 1-3 are background material
Chapter 4, The Darkwood Webs (T1) is DDAL00-02A
Chapter 5, The Weirding Vats (T1) is DDAL00-02B
Chapter 6, Spawn of the Maimed Virulence (T2) is DDAL00-02C
Chapter 7, Echoes of the Weeping War (T2) is DDAL00-02D
Chapter 8, Forgotten Foes (T3) is DDAL00-02E
Chapter 9, The Definition of Heroism (T4) is DDAL00-02F
.... partial spoilers...
02A is one of my favorite modules, a great introduction to 5e. 5/5 stars
02B didn't flow as well with my group, and it also ran quickly. 3/5 stars
02C was exciting and thrilling, very well balanced and a little different from the typical adventure, but still engaging and challenging for both roleplayers and combat. 5/5 stars.
02D was not as fun to DM,...See more

Pools of Radiance, Ruins of Myth Drannor was the first ever D&D-based game I played. I'm really excited to start running these modules and delving back into my childhood.

I know this may be a pointless gripe, but I really wish they would've included item certificates with this bundle. I'm a huge fan of physical rewards and seeing as this is something that we as DMs have to print out anyway I don't see why they don't include these anymore.

For those of you wondering, this bundle includes:
(2) Tier 1 adventures
(2) Tier 2 adventures
(1) Tier 3 adventure
(1) Tier 4 adventure

I'll be running the T1 adventures tonight with my group and will add a formal review after!

These adventures are top notch. The only complaint is that a couple are short. This is money well spent!

i hope there is a hardcover option, I recieved the softcover at a con, but I would totally buy a new copy if it was hardcover.
Customer avatar
Gregory M July 13, 2018 3:43 pm UTC
A hardcover is something we will have to discuss. At 76 pages, it may be price prohibitive but we'll know more once we have the POD proof in-hand and can actually figure out of there is a demand. Until then, there will certainly be a color softcover.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
