How good is the Apothecary? I have a rogue character with a background with the church of pelor and I was wondering how good the subclass is.

The fencing feat seems very strong, bordering on broken, given that it gives the user basically a guaranteed reaction every turn, on top of the area control from the thrust ability, and there is no cool down on the ability... am I missing something?

Hi, I love this product and I'm really happy to see archetypes that I thought they where missing in official sourcebooks like a poisoner rogue or a thugh rogue. However I have a question, how would silent shadow style work with apex predator 3rd level feature?

Hey, Love the product and happy to support it, Just a quick question with Path of the Rune Sage and Path of the Sylvan Warden is the intent for you to be able to use the spells you get while raging or are they more options while your not raging?

I know I'm late for the party, but for the apothecary subclass, for the use of their concoctions, they don't count as the free object interaction, correct? Or are you meant to use them, and then also attack?

The Fighter subclass, Crusader, At level 18, they get their Divine Domain's 17th level feature, How does this work with the Arcane Domain, which lets the Cleric learn a 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level spell from the wizard spell list. given this doesn't have that high of a spell slot, so is it just a waste?

So I was going over the Ranger subclass: Spirit Guardian, and noticed something that bothers me.
At 15th, you get Elemental Vessel which as an Action lets you become an particular elemental, for One Minute.
This bothers me, because a level Ten "Circle of The Moon" Druid can change into an elemental as a Bonus action for a number of HOURS equal to half their Druid level. And they can pick a different elemental each time they transform. Heck, they might even be able to benefit from equipment.
Elemental Vessel is the pinnacle of it's subclass, but when compared to "Circle of the Moon", it feels lacking.

Here are some of my ideas to bring it up to snuff:
-the transformation takes a Bonus action
-attacks made in elemental form are magical
-either increase the number of times you can change or increase the amount of time you can stay in elemental form. Maybe your WIS modifier can factor in somehow. Heck, maybe the transformation could be semi-permanent...See more

So there's something that's been nagging at me. Of all the weapons added, there are no finesse ones included, despite some seeming like they should. There's also no mention of classes having proficiency in them, which I find weird. Many of the weapons are very fitting for a monk but outside of Kensai they cannot be used, and I know a lotta people who'd want firearms added to rogue's proficiencies.

Is the non-finesse and lack of proficiency (for Rogues, Monks and the like) intentional?

Regarding finesse, none of the weapons I wrote were appropriate for that property and I don't generally think the game is lacking in options for weapons of that category so I didn't write new finesse weapons just for the sake of adding additional finesse weapons to the game.

The proficiency issue is actually unintentional. Whether or not rogue's get firearms feels very setting dependent. I'd probably be more inclined to do an optional rule box that discusses adding firearm proficiencies to classes that don't have general martial weapon proficiency. The monk should definitely get hook sword, sai, and war fan and probably weighted chain and chakram too.

Hi Benjamin, I wanted to tell you that I love this handbook. As soon as I bought it, I got it(and some other stuff) printed and spiral bound into a real book. My favorite archetypes are the Combat Medic, Apex Predator, and the Apothecary( this one is really interesting). You and Ross did an amazing job making this.

Speaking of the Apex Predator, I have a quick question. Why doesn't Tooth And Nail's damage increase? I feel like, at the very least, it should increase to 1d6 at level 11. Or maybe 2d4, like the wolf has.
Hmm, that would be an interesting progression: first 1d4, then 2d4, then 1d6, then 2d6( like the Dire Wolf).

Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm thrilled you enjoy The Complete Martialist Handbook!

The biggest reason the Apex Predator's unarmed damage die doesn't scale is that it's loaded with good, powerful features that are as important to the theme of feral warrior as fighting with tooth and claw. I don't think you'll notice it wanting for combat power in play!

Hi Benjamin,
Have you given any consideration in converting this into a Fantasy Grounds module and listing it on the DMsGuild? If so, I've been converting modules for publishers and independent content creators. If this is something your are interested in, I can complete the conversion. Reach out to me at: grimlore.entertainment@gmail.com.

Is by design that the Skinchanger's Shape of the Lesser Beast requires Concentration still?
It seems like it makes it very difficult to use.

Was also thinking that the Shapechange spell would be better just limited to Beasts and CR's as this still lets the barbarian rage and use the rest of their kit.
Again this might be by design that you made it so that they do loose all class features while using that feature, it just seems weird to me to have a feature that by use removes all other features.

Hi Flemming!

Yes, that is by intention. Shape of the Lesser Beast is more of a utility feature - you can use it to gain fly speed, swim speed, or just hide as a mouse or whatever else strikes you. Primal Rage and Shape of the Greater Beast are both features that have more interplay with your normal Barbarian stuff (smashing, hacking, stabbing, etc.).

Greater Beast still removes all of your barbarian features, since it is still just Polymorph? Or do I misunderstand something?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
