How long before the print version is again available.

Terry, thanks for the question and interest in the print version. We ordered the review copies last week. They haven't shipped yet, but I'm hoping they'll arrive before next weekend, and then be available shortly afterward. I don't see there being any issues with the review copies, but we just have to be sure before making the print option available again.

Great work. One question, though - under Selûne, "moonblade" is described as a 2nd level spell, but you list it as a 1st level spell in the Silverstar Domain.

Can you please correct whichever of these is a mistake?

Hi, Joseph! Thanks for letting us know about this. After reading the spell, it's definitely 2nd level. I sent a message to the author of that archetype to see how we'll handle this. We'll have to move the spell to the 2nd level domain spot and replace it in the 1st level spot with another suitable spell. I would replace augury with moonblade in the 2nd level spot, and put faerie fire in its 1st level spot, but I would have to confirm that with Alex.

So I ordered a print copy and pdf copy already, will I have access to revised pdfs to make edits in my books?
Customer avatar
Scott B July 06, 2018 4:08 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi, Chase. Yes, the PDF was revised within hours of us being made aware of the omitted spells. You should have access to the full PDF with changes added and a small errata Word document that describes the changes. The layout didn't change significantly as no pages were added. There were two spells added for Silvanus and one for Corellon. I also added one line to the end of the Dawnstone artifact description that explains that it regains all its charges each day at dawn.

Hey Scott, I did not see that below until you pointed it out, sorry. But what I meant if I buy it, will it be printed by WoTC or DMG? Would WoTC consider this a third party published book?
Customer avatar
Scott B June 29, 2018 10:04 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi, Joseph! The book is printed by OneBookShelf's vendor through the DMs Guild. It would be considered a third-party product, though the DMs Guild and WotC receive their royalties from the sale. Alex, Micah, and I collaborated to produce the content using our in-depth research of both previous and current edition materials.

I ordered both copies of the hardback versions to review before release, and the print quality is very high (Better than expected). The pages are very thick and the binding should hold well too. I was careful to keep non-white colors away from the book's spine while laying it out to improve the glue's hold. The main difference between the standard and premium versions is the ink quality.

We have some great art in this book, with well over 100 images gracing its pages. The colors are more brilliant in the premium version, but the standard looks good too.

Is the original FR Corellon here rather than the MToF version?

Hi Katherine

Corellon in this publication is based on the original FR version from previous edition sources. MToF was not an available resource during the development of this product.

In future products we plan to account for any additional official sources WoTC might release as much as is practical whilst maintaining consistency with our product line.

Katherine L June 28, 2018 5:31 pm UTC
IMHO I prefer FR-only content for FR resources unlike MToF so to me this is a plus. Thank you.

I’m a little disappointed it does not include more detailed information on Bahamut, Gruumsh, and Eilistraee who seem like major players in modern Faerun. Also would have like to have seen Marthammor Duin, but at least each head of the non-human pantheons would have been expected.

Overall solid work but expected more.

Hi Raul,

As noted below we do plan future volumes with nonhuman deities, but including other pantheons in this book would have made the hardcover essentially unaffordable (cost scales with page count). We’re sorry we couldn’t include other pantheons in this one!

Hi, Raul. The description above explains what deities are included in the title. It is the Faerunian Pantheon, which is the first table of deities in SCAG. Basically, the 48 main deities, and we added Corellon and Moradin for good measure. Originally we were going to include them all but realized it would've taken years to produce such a title. We are currently working on follow-up titles that include the gods you mention.

I hope you find the book overall useful and imagination provoking. We included a variety of content to help develop immersive role-playing experiences.

Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate the suggestions. Since we are working on the extra content that you mention for our next title, we would appreciate any suggestions that you have that could improve our work.

Michael P June 26, 2018 9:40 pm UTC
This looks like great work, but do you have any plan to finish fleshing out the pantheon beyond those mentioned in SCAG?

We don’t currently have plans for other human-centric deities but have begun work on dwarven and elven deities. We’re generally thinking of making content for the orc, gnome, and halfling pantheons as well.

If you have SCAG, look at the pantheon list on page 21 and add Corellon/Moradin. If you have the PHB, the deities listed under 'Deities of the Forgotten Realms' in Appendix B are 36 out of the 50 included but gives you a solid idea of the gods/goddesses in the book.

I'm still tempted to go back and order the hardback edition. This is truly some beautiful work. Thank you for the craft that you have all put into this. The Archetypes that I have read over so far really provide some great options for the Faith-based characters!
Just a small suggestion (that may never need to be implemented at all, just a thought): Is there any way to get a list of possible bonuses/boons for the other characters that could still benefit from the worship of these Divinities? Obviously, this would not be available to every run-of-the-mill character, but it is something I would be interested in using myself and I apply some variations in my own games.

Thank you again for a well-crafted product and I look forward to more material in the future!

A template for modifying existing NPCs with signature spells, ability increases, and special abilities is something I’m actually a bit into right now for a Volume 2. It’s formatted similarly to cult features and demonic boons as presented in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes.

Is this similar to what you had in mind? We’re in the early stages right now so this is a perfect time for this kind of feedback!

Sooo I guess elephant in the room time, is the information held in this book cannon? Is this book a good repository for actual cannon knowledge of these deities or is this lore you tacked on to flush out the gods and religion? What are the benefits to buying your book over...lets say pulling up a wiki? (outside of the extra archetypes, witch are always appreciated)

We used canon lore and didn’t add new fluff to the deities. Most of the holidays could be found easily online. The archetypes are original works and the converted spells are obviously ‘new’ content we’ve provided for 5E. The holy texts chapter, though present in older editions, aren’t mentioned in any common online source I checked. And the magic items and artifacts either didn’t have stats or only had general features from older editions (mainly 2E).

Does this include the elven, dwarven, and drow pantheons?
Customer avatar
Scott B June 22, 2018 6:45 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi, Tommaso! Thanks for asking. This title only includes the 48 main deities from the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide plus Corellon and Moradin. When we started the project, we were going to include every deity. Then we realized that the final product would likely be six hundred pages or more and take well over a year to develop--maybe even two. We decided to limit the scope since this took over 9 months to finish. We are considering the other pantheons, which merit books of their own, especially with the expanded deities included in the recent Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes published by Wizards of the Coast.

This is an excellent idea, even a lot of realms fans will have no idea what these nearly unheard of dieties are.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
