The Adventure Itself

"A festival is being thrown in the reaches of the Underdark where races of various walks of life have gathered. A small section has been covered in tents with various foods, drinks and other activities. The myconids from all over the Underdark also gather here to commune with other colonies of Myconids and enter their shared dream states together. However, not all is fun and games within the fairegrounds as something dark and evil lurks behind the scenes that could plunge the entirety of the Underdark into chaos."

Festival of the Myconid is an adventure that should span about 2-3 sessions and features primarily in the Underdark. The unique aspect of this adventure is to help me test out my attempt at making a player race out of the beautiful Myconids!

The adventure is built to start at Level 1 (should end with them being Level 2) and players will be playing as a group of Myconid residents of the Underdark who decide to enter the yearly faire that is held down below called The Festival of the Myconid and is a gathering of Myconid from all walks of life to gather together, socialize and just have a day of revelry and fun.

A party between three and four is recommended. No more, no less. If you do have more than four, scaling up the encounters may be required. It's built to be used with Milestone leveling, but you can scrap that if desired and use the standard XP at your discretion as the DM.

This is the first adventure I've ever tried tackling in this format and I'm pretty happy with it and hope everyone else is too! I'd love thoughts, opinions, criticisms, etc. If you run a D&D blog, podcast, etc let me know and I'll work on getting you a copy of the adventure for review purposes.

What Do You Get?

  • A new player race based on the Adult Myconid from the Monster Manual with little tweaks to incorporate them into games easier.
  • A 19 page, 2-3 session set in the Underdark for players starting at Level 1 and should end with them getting to around Level 2. It's more of an adventure to use the Myconid player race. It's developed in a way that allows players to drift right into Out of the Abyss if interested.
  • Two new creatures and a handful of new items made purely for this adventure.
  • Maps to help illustrate the areas the players will be in.

Update - February 14th, 2018

Fixed issues with art assets and sorted out the location of a map that had obscured important text. Reduced a massive blank page that just looked horrible with the removal of certain images, so the page count dropped from 19 to 18.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
