Labyrinth of Thorns (A Requiem of Wings #2)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

An original one-shot adventure designed for level 4-5 characters.

Swirly floral shaped graphic

Summary:

The city of St. Valentine is home to Dante's Casa di Dolci, a world-renowned bakery — and tucked within the bakery is the entrance to a secret labyrinth, created by a mischievous, merciless god. Every February, an unsuspecting resident from St. Valentine is pulled into the maze. Some return after years spent in the labyrinth, but most do not.

When Dante's beloved wife, Simonetta, is pulled into the labyrinth, he must enlist the help of adventurers to get her back. The journey that follows is one of strange doors, riddles, and dangerous creatures that lurk among the hedges...

Just stumbled upon this adventure, will run it once or maybe twice in a (free) DnD community now on Valentine's. Will keep you posted on how it goes!
BTW, I know this is only $1.99 but I would be willing to pay a bit more if the maps to the 'other rooms' were provided. I use Foundry VTT and being able to upload the maps would be huge instead of creating them somehow.

I previously purchased the Night of Masks and Monsters (part 1 of the Requiem of Wings adventure) and was quite satisfied as that purchase provided maps that I could screenshot separately and save as JPGs to use with Roll20. However, it seems this second part to the Requiem of Wings, as well as the third part, The Starlight Relic, only includes the campaign guide itself, and no maps or other content was included. Will there be additional content made available to support playing this module on a virtual tabletop setting?

Hi! I'm looking to run this next month for some friends, but first I wanted to check to see if there was a printer-friendly version of the adventure, as there is for "A Night of Masks and Monsters" (which I ran last year and enjoyed immensely) and "The Starlight Relic" (which I intend to run later this year).

How does this one-shot link with the previous 'A Requiem of Wings"?

Hey Rebecca! It's not a direct sequel to 'A Night of Masks and Monsters'; it's more of a follow-up since it revolves around the same conflict (angels vs. demons) and is set in the same area. It shows how the Aureum, despite its devotion to gods, is not always the "good" side.

The full 'Requiem' campaign book will have specific adventure hooks that link the two modules. :) Let me know if you have any more questions!

This is easily the best $2 I have ever spent. The adventure was a great read and my players really enjoyed themselves. I love Ms Warren's writing style and I'm really looking forward to running more of her adventures.

My blog post shows some of the models I painted and we used for the adventure:

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
