Arclords 5E Combat & Actions Summary Detailed

Finally, a combat summary sheet to help new players that isn’t missing a ton of actions (these sheets commonly only have SRD actions) and consolidates how to make attacks. It works great as a handout or something to put behind the DM screen. This 1 page sheet has combat steps, turn steps, all the combat actions from the PHB and DMG, interaction examples, rules for making attacks, and melee/ranged attack steps. Usually summary sheets like this just list the name of the action without including an explanation, but this sheet includes short summaries of of the rules as well. In addition, the color coding links everything together in a logical flow.

Great PDF, thank you!The only issue I see is with "Roll Initiative", the characters determine amongst themselves who goes first if it's two PCs, and the DM determines NPCs (PHB page 189 "If a tie occurs, the DM decides the order among tied DM-controlled creatures, and the players decide the order among their tied characters.")

Vi, good point. I just uploaded an update, and while there isn't room to fully explain ties, I added to see the PHB p.189 for ties. Since I was making an update, I also decided to move Shove and Grapple attacks next to the Attack action since that was bugging me.

Only looking at the preview image, but Disengage isn't part of movement, it costs an action (or for some, a bonus action).
Not sure if your preview image is just from an early draft.
Also isn't grapple an attack, not an action? so characters with multiple attacks can attempt multiple grapples in lieu of a regular attack

The top of the column which you cannot see in preview image is "Combat Actions", so the sheet does call it out as an action and not a movement. Dash and Disengage are colored the same as a movement to show that they are related to moving.

For grapple, I recently updated the file to clarify that grapple and shove are used to replace attacks from the attack action. I feel it is still nice to show grapple as a separate action for new players, especially since escape a grapple is actually a stand-alone option that uses your full action.

Since I was making an update, I went ahead and made the preview image the full sheet instead of a cut out piece, that way everyone can see the combat actions column title to prevent confusion. Thanks for the input.

I thought writing non-SRD options wasn't allowed (see overrun, tumble, etc from the DMG).

I'm not fully sure. This summary isn't full text from the DMG, and some even further direct you to pages in the DMG. I feel it is in the spirit of the OGL, which is cited on the document, and should lead those without the book to be further interested in its purchase. However, I can follow up with Guild admins.

Ok, upon further review, the DMs Guild does not limit authors to SRD only content. DMs Guild options are distinct and different than the Open Game License. Here are some excerpts from DMs Guild publishing guidelines:

DMs Guild Content and Format Questions states:
Your work can use any of the 5th Edition D&D rules published by Wizards of the Coast, plus decades of published material for the Forgotten Realms or Ravenloft setting.
Avoid copying large sections of Wizards titles. Stick to summary information needed

DMs Guild OGL Questions states:
When you publish material that has no setting, then publishing under the DMs Guild program allows you to use the entire D&D 5th edition rules, not just the subset found in the SRD.

This publication fits within the framework stated by the content creation guidelines. I did swap out the OGL copyright statement with the DMs Guild Legal statement (bottom left of PDF).

you missed "off-hand strike" as a bonus action.

Not exactly, but I understand where you are coming from. I refrained from including a list of possible bonus actions since most of those come from specific class features instead of general actions that are listed in the actions sections. The 2 items in the "Actions" column that were colored as a bonus action are because they are either or, but they were still full action options provided in the action sections.

It's a bit hidden in the rules, but the off-hand strike as a bonus action is a generic thing available to every char in every class - "normally" you don't get your positive stat bonus to the damage, but some classes/feats change this.
(The Action must be an Attack with a light melee weapon and the off-hand must have a light melee weapon. (p195 PHB) "Unarmed" is considered a light melee weapon in this case.)

I wasn't disagreeing that it is a bonus action, just that I did not include any list of bonus actions. This was a space availability issue mkre than anything. If I were to include that particular bonus action, I could potentially put it in the melee attack block, which would require font reduction to make room, but possible. I may try it out later to see what it looks like at least.

I did make an update with reduced font for the attack column to squeeze in two-weapon fighting for you.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
