This expansion to the Tomb of Annihilation adventure gives dungeon masters ready-made material to help run certain sections of the adventure with little preparation.

This book is written by the author of the best-selling Emirikol’s Guide to Devils, A Guide to Curse of Strahd, A Guide to Storm King’s Thunder, A Guide to Tomb of Annihilation and more. Included in this PDF:

  • Dinosaur Race: Alternate rules for running a dinosaur race that allows players a bit of structure to execute cool maneuvers such as attacking other riders and leaping on to someone else’s mount.

  • Jungle Travel: 30 days of jungle travel, complete with foraging results/encounters and events that occur at night. These can be dropped in to any journey through the jungle when you feel the need to liven things up.

  • Montage: A sample travel montage to help dungeon masters get a handle on hand-waving a week of travel in an interesting and consequential manner.

  • Visits from the Sewn Sisters: In the adventure, the Sewn Sisters are meant to try to invade the camp of the heroes. There is a fully-developed encounter for each hag ready to be used.

  • Killing Baggy Nanna: Notes on what is under the hag’s hood, and a special scenario for those who dare to try to find out.

  • Locations in Omu: An expansion of the “Navigation” section of Tomb of Annihilation, this has 9 buildings that can be used when heroes want to explore or rest in a random building of Omu. Each contains unique situations and encounters, some deadly and some exploratory.

  • Cog of Blood: A variant version of Room 60 in the Tomb of the Nine Gods. This version pulls monsters and NPCs from old products and adds them to the mix in encounters that don’t necessarily need to be resolved with combat.

  • Lost Treasures: Each of the “story items” listed in the Tomb adventure are fully statted-out as magic items.

  • Albino Dwarf Characters: Rules on making albino dwarf characters.

  • Yuan-Ti Characters: Rules and ideas on making yuan-ti characters right from the beginning of the adventure.

I'm throwing in my vote for a printer friendly version.

As someone running a pre-written campaign for the first time i have found this immensely helpful. Especially the 30 days of travel. Constant rolling on the encounters table and flicking back to see what you do slows the game down so much. Great guide.

A great Companion. I’d like so much the dinosaurs race rules and the journey diary.
A good job at all.

Please give us a printer friendly version. It would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'm liking it.

I just bought this and haven't read any content yet. I wanted to print it out but there's this annoying mottled background color. Why isn't there a print-friendly version of this pdf? I don't understand the appeal of the watermarked, non-white background. In electronic format it makes it harder to read by reducing the contrast with the text. When printed it wastes ink/toner and doesn't add anything aesthetically. This will knock a star off a review if I get around to making one.

This is a great guide for new and experienced DMs. I plan on switching up the days to satisfy the type of terrain they are in. This adds a lot of flavour and my group is heavy on role playing.

The guide is awesome and ridiculously useful, but do you have a version without the page background image? It's a total jerk to print!

Yes, I agree whole-heartedly. Came here to ask the same.

Is this different from the Guide to ToA? I already bought that one. On the inside cover of the Guide to ToA you have the picture on the cover above, and the title for THIS book...

Is this an update? Do I need to pay for a second book?

This is different than the guide. The guide is a "cliff's notes" version of the Tomb of Annihilation adventure. This companion has original scenarios created by me that you can put in your campaign.

There's a giant rollercoaster/El train of aqueducts in Port Nyanzaru? Did you just make that part up, or did I completely miss it?

I made it up. I had read some complaints from people who thought Port Nyanzaru was "boring" so I thought that might help spice it up a bit.

For dinosaur race, you kept the animal handling check to get the distance in a round, as explained in the book? Other way to make the question: your rules are regular ToA book rules + your new rules? It’s not clear to me how the racers gains distance, only avoiding obstacles

The "feet" are counted as "points" in my version. Whoever has the most points and crosses the finish line in the final stage wins the race.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
