HUNTER: a jungle adventure that pits players against a formidable predator from Chultan myth. To survive, they must use their own heads as well as their characters' brawn. A little luck goes a long way too...

HUNTER is designed for lvl. 1-4 characters, and is optimized for a group of four 3rd level characters. It can be played in a single evening (2-4 hours).

The adventure includes:

  • Full-color DM map and untagged player map handout.
  • A new legendary monster: the Uluu Thalongh.
  • Handouts for controlling a mercenary patrol as victims secondary characters

HUNTER was brought to you by Will Doyle (Tomb of Annihilation, Ruins of Mezro) and James Introcaso (Cellar of Death, Beasts of the Jungle Rot) as part of the Guild Adepts program. The Fantasy Grounds conversion was kindly donated by Mike Davey.

HUNTER is fully compatible with D&D Adventurers League play, with the following guidance:

  • Repeating Crossbow. This item can’t be kept by your players, nor can they apply one of the various runes to it in. The item disappears at the end of the session or adventure—whichever happens first.
  • The Mercenaries. These NPCs shouldn’t earn a share of the XP for the adventure.

Version 5 Notes: Updated for D&D Adventurers League play.

I have a very large group (8 players) who are all at level 4 but I'd love to run this module. Do you have any advice for upscaling the big bad fight?

Would it be possible to get a more printer-friendly version of this module?

I notice the PDF seems to be missing bookmarks. Any chance they could be added?

Just curious- the Uluu Thalongh stat block has the plant form as (Recharge 4). Is that intended, or should it be (Recharge 4-6)?

I have just purchased it, and they are still blank. I hope you can fix it the sooner the better. I wouldn't like to do it myself.

It is really a nice adventure. Good job!

Would it be possible to get the map as a separate file for digital tabletop? I assumed based on the description that it included the map that it was a separate file.

Hey Loren, thanks for the suggestion. I've now included high-res versions of both maps as separate files.

This looks pretty sweet for those of us who love the classics. Unfortunately, my party is already passed the point where I could fit this into the adventure. Damn!

the main monster is CR7, so add a few extra hitpoints and raise Dave Dc's and increase the damage and you are have monster that will challenge a higher level party

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
