Tortle Package (5e)

The Snout of Omgar is a geographical region described briefly in Tomb of Annihilation.

Not much is revealed about the location or its inhabitants in that adventure, however. The Tortle Package is written for Dungeon Masters who want to know more about the Snout of Omgar.

This supplement also introduces a new playable character race, the tortle, and a new adventure location: Dangwaru, the Typhoon Palace. All of this is permissible for play within the D&D Adventurers League.

All proceeds from this product are to be contributed to ExtraLife. You can head to the D&D page on Extra Life to find out more.

Was there a different 5e supplement with tortles? I bought one a few weeks ago and I didn't want to buy this one twice if they were the same.

Please add a printer-friendly Adobe Reader-friendly version (we ask this EVERY time Wizards!)

The D&D Beyond version has higher resolution versions of the 3 maps - please add them to this version too.

(The problem with content published here from "Wizards of the Coast" not the author(s), is that questions don't appear to get to the authors. I'd like to know a rough APL or level guide for the two locations, as well as an estimate for adventure length if possible -though granted as part of the overall hardcover this is extremely variable.)

It is and according to the ALPG it counts as part of Xanathar's Guide to Everything, so that book is the +1

Yes. The EEPC could be bought as PrintOnDemand here, why not this one?

Does this count as DLC? And if tortles are as overpowered as they initially seem then is it also pay-to-win?

No?

Actually, according to Chris Perkins they kind of consider this (and other stuff from Adepts for ToA) day one DLC for ToA.

I was looking into developing the FG version, but someone DID do just the class and the race. It's already here on the Guild...

What do you mean with FG, and how do i find the 'class and race' thing you speak off.
(o nevermind, if you are speaking bout fantasy grounds. but why reply to a post about prints then??)

Wondering if a Tortle monk with unarmored can benefit from the Wisdom modifier increase as the Tortle Natural Armor only says Dex modifiers do not apply.

The official ruling is that if you have multiple AC calculations, you choose one of them, so you can either have flat AC or 10 + Dex + Wis

Thanks. Makes more sense than a lvl 1 shieldless AC19 monk :D

Tortles Natural Armor is also the exception with not adding Dex to it.

I'd like to second the previous requests for a print-ready version. Much easier to use at the table.

I would love to buy this, but i need to know more about the race. Is it like an expanded version of the promotional race for tomb of annihalation.

Heads up for WotC: the read-aloud text for Area 12 of Dangwaru is missing part of a sentence.

Only one thing, they only live to 50? 500 surely is that not the defining feature of the inspiration species? otherwise great !

I'm going to second this criticism. I'm loving the product other wise, but would be interested in finding out why they made the lifespan so short.

Printer friendly version coming?

Also, it would be nice if the race information were separated from the additional material to make it easier to share with players without revealing the other content.

Am I stupid or does the map fail to mention the stairs leading up to area 10 from the ground, which seems to allow anyone approaching to completely circumvent the gate. Thinking of the original construct, is it intentional that the front half (areas 1-9) are not connected internally to the rest of the temple (areas 11 onward)? It seems really odd. Though not too hard to remove the stairs to area 10 and replace the window in area 8 with a door, then the construction makes sense.

As an aside, this seems like kind of a perfect story reward, I cant think of a way for the players to claim it off the top of my head since the doors don't lock, but this could easily be claimed by the players as a home of sorts, assuming they had a boat. I mean, it has it's own bathroom, a magical weather controlling throne (which should excite me more than a bathtub) and other great little things.

If you look closer, the ledge (and stairs) are the only way to get to room 11. Rooms 1- 9 I think are separate for a reason.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
