I have read vol 1 and 2 and have started playing this campaign. I am missing something though, well actually a few. Once the vol 1 is completed and characters need to get to Chult, and they are dropped off on the shores of Chult by the lost city of mezro, why would they characters get to the spire? of all the places in the city.. this is the one place they get too? Also, and maybe I missed it while reading last night but, what exactly happens when all three of the weapons are brought to gether? Where is the conclusion for Keraptis and Acererak! maybe I didn't read enough between the lines.. is it basically that if the characters die, they are the three heroes and then Acererak devours those and the weapons.. without provocation? which makes him the god and Keraptis is released? Should the pcs not destroy the weapons to ensure Acererak is never released and Keraptis is stuck in his plane forever? I love the basics but, like many of the modules and stories I have read, there is sooooooo much not discussed with any...See more

Hi - the 'end game' is difficult since Tomb of Horrors is a bastard! I wanted a 'work around,' since it is deadly and - if run correctly, I'd be surprised if characters survived. ToH could be the end game. If they get through to the end and knock-off Acererak the earned a pretty big victory. If not, well, they become the 'failed' heroes.

Just wanted to say this campaign is great and has some wonderful ideas on how to connect it all together.

Echoing the other commenters, as a beginning DM I'd love to see the 'distorted reality' conclusion uploaded! Even if it's just a rough outline or skeleton that we could flesh out.

Thanks again!

This campaign is awesome! I am about halfway with my group, and they are having a blast with it. I am just wondering if anything has changed regarding the end of story. Are there plans to complete it with the battle with Keraptis? I am just wondering because I would love some content to finish it all out. It seems like such a cool campaign to leave incomplete.

Hey - I'm sorry that it is incomplete. I've been working on some RPG design of a few of my own games. I do want to get back to fantasy soon, but not sure when or if I can pull off the Keraptis ending.

I know that final battle scene that I had in mind would shift the terrain every few rounds -- so, an epic battle that switches from mountain tops, to clouds, to a narrow bridge over a bottomless gorge, etc - as reality is torn to pieces.

Just wondering... how does one pronounce the name Ejs? Seems to be an important NPC, and I wanted to try and use the name referred to in your work to avoid confusion, but I have no clue what to call this guy.

Is "Distorted Reality" still in the works?

I'm sorry -- I don't know if I will get back to this. I've been working on releasing a near future RPG based on the Blades in the Dark rules. I hope to have that released on Drivethrurpg in early July. I have also been working on a couple of other new RPG projects.

Two questions:

1.) What's the state of "Distorted Reality", the final confrontation with Keraptis?

2.) I'm confused about how to get the characters from Tamoachan to White Plume mountain. The guide says that the weapons are stolen, but not how. Presumably, the characters are carrying all the weapons at that point, right? I feel like I'm missing something somewhere.

Thanks for the great content!

I had the same problem. I had some cultists of Keraptis steal the weapons from the party in Waterdeep. You'll have to plan that encounter carefully for obvious reasons. On one of the dead cultists, the party found the poem from WPM that alerts them of where they are taking the weapons, since the cultists believe that Keraptis wants the weapons to be returned to White Plume Mountain. In exchange, the cultists fervently believe that they will be lavishly rewarded for this, hence their rabid drive to find and steal the weapons. The cultists are recent converts to Keraptis who had been associated with the Cult of the Dragon, but with their recent demise they are looking for a new patron to follow.

Keraptis is a high level mage, so they weapons could be 'unfairly' stolen by the mage & minions. Honestly, it is a 'gm fiat' type thing that I normally hate to use, but seemed necessary to connect the disparate adventures.

Thank you for this bundle. I really like what you did with the story. Do you have a Volume 3 with an ending that side-steps the Tomb of Horrors. That's an adventure my characters most likely won't enjoy... but I still would really like them to finish out your adventure packet.

Well, the included volume 3 has a work-around for Tomb of Horrors. It isn't perfect, but I wanted to keep to my goal of connecting all of the adventures together.

I do have some thoughts for a sequel (level 19-20), but I don't have an ETA for writing it. It connects back to Keraptis. But, you would have a bit of a gap between TOH.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
