  • Great value for a superior product. […] I look forward to getting future Wraith Wright products. – Ro W.
  • Wow! Incredible resource… I strongly recommend this Guide to any GM looking to get all their players on the same page. – Lord F.

This completes 5e for me. It's like they just forgot the part about shopping and equipment when they made it.

This, without any debate is the best book I have read and filled that gaping hole that WotC left with all swords being just a long sword and missing all of the great flavor of 2nd edition equipment and mundane items. REALLY WELL DONE!!!!

Not sure if this has been asked... but, Is there a PDF of JUST the tables, like a DM Screen or the like? Would make it easier to have the characters and me reference when using this instead of standard equipment and other items in game.

p.s. you should charge more! lol

Thanks for the feedback, Charles. I'm glad you like it!

I'm going to put your tables-PDF idea on our list to consider. With so much content, it can be a challenge to organize efficiently. That's one of the reasons we worked so hard to get the bookmarking right in the PDF. Some RPG products have a table of tables, which is something else we considered.

> p.s. you should charge more! lol

We do plan to increase the price _slightly_ to cover the cost of coding the Fantasy Grounds addition. Of course anyone who buys at the current rate gets those for a discount! (You can always return to this page and download the latest files once you've bought the product.)

The description for magic items states "from all official publications". Does this mean all editions of DnD, or just 5E?

It only lists prices for magic item from the official 5th Edition products.

I would try downloading it directly rather than to Dropbox. I don't think the issue is on my end--the files haven't been updated in several weeks, so nothing's changed from the server side. Let me know if this problem persists and I will try to help you troubleshoot it.

I would love to develop this for Fantasy Grounds, and have been thinking about it for a long time. But my Fantasy Grounds skills are currently weak. I've been trying to train myself on InDesign and other publishing tools at the same time I'm developing new titles, and this is pretty far out in my schedule. It might be easier if I partnered with people who already have the expertise to make such a conversion. I should look into that.

Hi, I'm currently working on importing the CEM into FG for my group, with coding and stuff. Obviously we'll end up playtesting a lot of it, and can playtest other stuff too. I've only got the armor so far, since it's kind of a slow process, but it'll get there eventually. Is there any way we can work together to get it on here when I'm finished? Also to include updates?

We are in talks with Jeffrey Quinn (of GeoQuester Gaming) to develop the Fantasy Grounds mods. At this stage, we're doing another update to the Comprehensive Equipment Manual before the coding begins. That update is a few days from completion.

My intention is currently to package the mods in the same product; there won't be a separate FG version. Anyone who has purchased the product already can come back to the page and download the new files including the FG mods. There may be a (very) small price increase to the CEM to cover the cost of this additional development, but that won't apply to anyone who has already purchased it.

Absolutely GREAT book!

Just a note for future updates. It looks like pages 102 and 103 both have the last part of their last sentence cut off and omitted. Not a big deal, just wanted you to see it so it could be corrected in a future release.

Again, I love the book and the combination of the two books. Any chance there will be a print on demand option in the future?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks the for help, David! I've updated the draft I have going for version 2.1.

The licensing terms in the Dungeon Masters Guild means I can't sell the product anywhere else. That means there won't be a print-on-demand option unless DMs Guild incorporates one.

Customer avatar
Wraith Wright P February 15, 2018 4:27 am UTC

Since DMs Guild has disabled POD, the only way to accomplish it is to provide suitable (additional) files for our customers to use with third-party POD services. Right now we are researching to see which are most reliable and cost-effective. Sadly, it will require an additional step. I'm not sure it's something we can accomplish, but we're trying.

Also, like the Fantasy Grounds files, we're intending to include them in the same product so that you don't have to make an additional purchase when we add new ways to use the Comprehensive Equipment Manual!

Something you might consider adding in is a "Fashion" modifier for gear (clothing and not). Well-tooled leather, brocaded cloth, unique designers, etc. Any game where political maneuvering with nobility or other organizations might factor in would find it useful and flavorful. Storm King's Thunder in particular seemed to have a fair bit of that. A Low, Common, and High range and DCs for them could give PC crafters something to work on too. A note that in-fashion does not mean high-quality would be good too.

Aside from that, how much does Sheath (Any) cost?
Is the cost for Masterwork armaments listed anywhere? I can't find it.

Items you might include: Cots, hammocks (sleeping off the ground, on ships and mid-climbing).
Snowshoes, skates, and skis (moving normally on snow, and running on ice and snow). Parachutes.
Vehicles: Bicycles
Customer avatar
Wraith Wright P November 02, 2017 7:54 pm UTC
CREATOR
Chad, I like your suggestions for additional pieces!

"Sheath (any)" is just a descriptive entry that applies to all the special sheaths in the game. So, it's information applies to concealed sheaths, false-bottom sheaths, and poison sheaths. I didn't repeat that same text in each sheath entry so that I could save some space.

The cost for masterwork armaments are found at the end of Part 2. Under the heading "Masterwork Armaments," there's a subheading called "Pricing." It's at the end of the masterwork armaments section.

Ahoy! Thanks for purchasing!

The Comprehensive Treasure Manual was a separate product that was originally intended to be part of The Comprehensive Equipment Manual. At some point, we decided to separate the products to facilitate easier, parallel development. However, we have since decided to re-incorporate the two.

The REVISED Comprehensive Equipment Manual will contain all the information from both products in an updated format, along with art from illustrator Johnathan Good. Because this will be an update to the existing product, everyone who has purchased The Complete Equipment Manual at this introductory price will have free access to the new, combined version.

Writing and edits for the combined product are 60-70% done. The art is done. Testing and revision will take some additional time. We're hoping to release in November.

This product was listed with a format type of "Virtual Tabletop", does that mean that in addition to the PDF that you also have a Fantasy Grounds .mod file or something? If not, you may want to correct this inaccurate flag on this product.

Hmm. We do not yet have virtual versioning. The "Online Tabletop" and "Virtual Tabletop" categories are NOT checked on the product editing page for this product, so it should not be listed with that format.

I just checked the Virtual Tabletop filter on the Dungeon Masters Guild page and couldn't find this product listed. Let me know if you continue to see this error.

We've had some design changes in the last few months. The Complete Treasure Manual will be incorporated back into the Complete Equipment Manual, along with new art assets, and will then be released as an update to this product.

Although the price will go up from its initial, introductory offering, anyone who's already purchased the Complete Equipment Manual will simply be able to downloaded the updated files at no additional cost.

Our expected release date is mid November. (I've put a note in our release checklist to email you directly when the files get updated, although I think the DM's Guild might have an email notification system in place for that.)

I'm going back and forth on whether or not to buy this, and I was looking at the preview. I was simply curious as to the difference between a buckler and normal shield. Is there any quantifiable benefit to wielding the buckler other than it being lighter? etc etc. Are there explanations included elsewhere in the book, or is it simply not there at all?
Customer avatar
Wraith Wright P September 06, 2017 2:16 am UTC
CREATOR
It takes only a bonus action to don or doff a buckler, gripping the interior handle or flicking it back to the forearm to put that hand to some other use. This allows you to switch quickly between combat styles.

It normally takes a whole action to make ready a shield.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
