DDAL07-02 Over the Edge (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In response to a new but as-of-yet-unnamed threat, the factions have called upon adventurers to venture into the jungle in search of a location for a new base of operations.

As such, you have been charged with scouting several locations to assess their viability.

Surely something so trivial as a scouting mission couldn’t go wrong?

Five One-Hour Adventures for 5th-10th Level Characters

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

4/5 maps aren't great, but the modules are fun. we were able to get them all done in 5 hours by just rushing through them and keeping the pace at maximum, but if you have players that meander and a DM that can't keep things focused and on track then expect it to take much longer

Good mix of combat and RP opportunities. Even with map issues mentioned, it is one of my favorite t2 intros.

DDAL 07-02: Over the Edge: last but not least the tier 2 five part module, I think this was my first D&D AL play two years ago at a CON event. I like the quickness as players are not burden with the time consuming, "getting geared up for walking in the jungles of Chult." get in, bang-bang, you're done, move onto the next chapter. The stories are well written and the DC checks are kept low; again I recommend somebody a WOTC do a edit on this and other modules.

Why on earth isn't there a .mod version of these? If they want to make DM's more inclined to Run AL... they need to include .mods. I love to dm/play, but scheduling a session or 2 a week is hard enough, without the HOURS I need to input into FG or Roll20. And Gods forbid I use both, because that means TWICE the work.

First review here, gotta say, im not happy. the maps are always low quality, which is fine, i hand fabricate copies for sessions. however, this quality is deplorable. in the PDF and printed, you cant see the grid lines (to gauge scale) and the rooms are listed, but not noted on the map: misty ruins, which chamber is the entrance? which is the cheifs chamber? wizards tower, which floor is which?

I like the concept of higher tier 1 hour adventures. Sessions 3 and 4 provide the most challenge in all 3 elements of good D&D (Role play, combat and exploration).

4/5 - This was an interesting approach to an intro adventure for tier 2. I was hoping that there would be an available magic item for completing all 5 missions, but alas there is not. The most memorable are adventures 3 and 4. 3 has some great opportunities for RP for the table and DM. 4 has some interesting puzzles and battle field tactics. 2 is focused on combat and 1 also has a cool puzzle. 5 is probably the weakest with the final combat not being well-explained.

It appears that none of the maps in the adventure are labelled, so you have to guess and label which area in each section corresponds to which description. HUGELY disappointed.

I have not heard of any plans for this, but that is a question for the Adventurers League admins.

Unlabeled maps is disappointing. Update this with labels for appendix 2 at least.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
