Warpath of Gruumsh

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In the level 3 adventure, the heroes face off against a band of orcs who live on islands in a pool of their orc god's blood.

Warpath of Gruumsh is part 2 of the Litany of Arrows adventure path, following up the platinum-selling Castle of Corellon adventure. This can very easily be run as a standalone adventure.

Warpath of Gruumsh contains three versions of each full-color map (untagged, player's map and DM's Map), original artwork, one page of new magic items, and full entries of the following new monsters:

  • Blood Moon Harpy: An orc/harpy hybrid created by Luthic, the goddess of orcs.

  • Elven Hound: Massive canines loyal to the elves.

  • Elves: A section on elves detailing their origin, their customs, their magical bonds and the malawain (elves who have never experienced a connection with their god).

  • Darkwood Stalker: Elves who specialize in killing orcs.

  • Mithral Dragon: Mysterious dragons who can see the future. There are stats for wyrmling, young, adult and ancient mithral dragons.

  • The Mithral Arms: A faction that serves 5 mithral dragons known as the Mithral Pentad.

  • Mithral Disciple Knight-Errant: Soldiers who serve the mithral dragons.

Downtime Adventures: Also included is a large section of custom downtime adventures wherein the heroes can make potions, learn Elven and carouse in no less than three different ways.

DM Aids: Attached as a separate document is a special handout meant to help the DM run the finale of this adventure, which may or may not include a massive explosion.

It is by far my favorite independently written series. I was very sad it never got finished.

Hi, I was wondering how long this is likely to take to play?

If the group plows through and doesn’t do EVERYTHING then 3 to 4 hours. If your group likes to explore every nook and cranny of the adventure break it up into two 3 hour sessions.

I really enjoyed the little character recommendations you put in this adventure. I'm hoping to run the full path eventually :)

Thanks! I hope you like it. I just finished the next one, the Ooze Chambers of Emirikol and I should have it on this site in a week or so.

Just finished my second read through. Loved it. i do have a few constructive criticisms though. I liked the XP breakdown in the front of the first one, sadly this one didn't have that, but it was easy enough to make my own lol. Next, I was expecting to see more "free" items in the town after I read the blurb, I may beef it up to endear the players to the town more. Finally, my last comment is very general. Do you have a map made up for this world? It would be useful to have for running the entire campaign. Thanks for you hard work, and I'm looking forward to part three!!

I didn't put the XP in this one because I get the feeling most people don't hand out XP. I can put them in the future ones. I keep getting worried that I'm giving out too many magic items! I do have a map, it's not quite finished, yet. The three cities that are definite is the dwarven city of Mordax, the city of Thunderhaven (where parts 4 and 5 take place) and a high elf city that Emirikol hates.

Honestly, I like the 2e style of gaming where magic flows like honey. If my players get more magic, I'll beef up encounters. Your adventure path feels like an old 2e style and that's what I like about it. Don't feel bad for adding items, they can be changed to mundane stuff by the DM easily kinda like your hard mode suggestions. Next, because this feels like a 2e path I was planning on handing out exp. It'll give an old feel of nostalgia to my players lol

Ha! I'm trying to make these adventures in the way I'd like to see 5e adventures made. I don't like how vague the 5e books are, and how much work DMs have to do to prepare them. I try my best to put all of the info that a DM would need right on the page, including obscure rules and what certain spells do.

Well, I'm enjoying them. I've been converting several old 2e Ravenloft adventures to 5e and these remind me of that style of adventure module, where I don't have to do TONS of work to make it flow well. My 5e CoS group has been running for 6 months and aren't out of Vallaki because I've added stuff in to make it more interesting. The way the module reads for 5e just doesn't link together for me, and while I'm using a modified version of exp and milestone I feel like it either gives you levels too quick, or not at the right time. I like the pace your adventures give out exp. I've added a few things to get the characters to the right spot and I want the world map to add my own flavor to the campaign, but there is nothing in your adventure modules that isn't useful and I plan on running all of it. The down time will be very fun for my group with the waterfall. If you want feed back, I'll gladly let you know how my group enjoys it, but I don't plan to start until you release the third one.

Vallaki is really loaded with good stuff! Feedback is great, please send it to: powerscorerpg@gmail.com

My editor had some stuff come up, so it looks like Ooze Chambers won't be on this site until at least Monday. I need to make some changes on the world map but I think I could put that as an add-on to one of these pretty soon. I'm still figuring out the relative locations of some of the higher level adventures and placing the Emirikol dungeons.

Awesome. I hope to start running these late this month, to early next. I'll be sure to hit you up with feedback as I finish up a module.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
