The Gold Knife Bandits

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Ever been on a long running campaign and in one of the sessions one or a few players couldn’t make it? This adventure was made to be used as sort of a filler episode to fix that. Made for a small party of 1st-4th lvl characters and to be played in a single session.

Story summary - The Gold Knife Bandits, a gang formed by a former army squadron that deserted. They are remarkably loyal to each other and are known in the area for attacking army caravans and camps. However, after several months of unfortunate loots. They decided to house a cultist of Beshaba and do what he asks to take away the curse of misfortune the gang is obviously under. Unfortunately, that includes using some members of the party as a sacrifice.

In reality, the cultist was the one that cursed the bandits with bad luck and is now rejoicing in being the boss. As soon as he can lift the curse he put on them himself that is. Meanwhile, the gang's old boss just wants to get them back in shape so he can continue to punish the army for what it did to him.

The party will find the bandits cavernous hideout, clear through it, face the cultist, the Bandit's old boss, or both! All in a day’s worth of adventuring.

I really enjoyed making this adventure and I want to improve myself on making them, so I would really apreciate any type of criticism.

Uh, you should probably not be quite so generous with the preview. It's a good, not-too-simple bandit hideout with lots of room for plot hooks, and some genuine threat!

Deploying this soon since my crew is wandering between a dock site and a wooded setting over a great distance. I have read it over and I like the cut of it! I'm particularly fond of the fact that you put a lot of pathos into it with the backstory of a loyalist paladin captain and his men, all while making a very terse, and pointed adventure. Reminds me of the story of Rinaldo from Bulfinch, where the discredited paladin goes to start a far fortress in Spain, and when supplies grew slim his band engaged in robbery and freebooting! Matt Colville's Adventure Lookup site led me to your work. If you are not aware, I'd recommend submitting more of your works.

Thank you for that feedback! And wow, I just put it in Adventure lookup last night, glad the website is drawing more people in :D
And I am working on a new, bigger adventure. But it probably will only be released at the end of summer.
I hope your party has fun with the adventure!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
