Digital Maps: Season 4 (Curse of Strahd)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Finally!

I’ve gone back and done some additional editing on these maps. Hopefully, it will rectify some of the problems that they had. I will be individually going back and updating the individual map packs with the new files as well.

If you run online, like to print your maps, or just want to have something nice to frame and hang over your fireplace to impress your friends, then give these a shot. Included are two zip files—each containing 38 maps in both .jpg (reasonably-sized for online play) and .pdf (scaled for printing 1" scale battlemaps) formats.

Future adventures to come!

PUBLIC NOTICE: THESE MAPS ARE NOT... I REPEAT NOT... FOR THE CURSE OF STRAHD BOOK FROM WOTC!

These maps are for the Adventurer's League Barovian Adventure, and OUGHT to be named by it's other name, "Misty Fortunes and Absent Hearts". It takes place alongside the Curse of Strahd Adventure, north-northeast of the Village of Barovia. So you COULD collect the materials for the entire AL season 4 (look up DDAL04) to ENHANCE the content already in the book. This is an ENTIRELY separate adventure "module". It can stand on it's own right, but it crosses over neatly and adds extra content. It also adds some depth to some of Strahd's wives. (Strahd himself barely makes a cameo.)

..and just to be CRYSTAL clear.. Travis didn't do it. The brainiacs at WotC decided it would be a good idea to name the module "Curse of Strahd". Just search for DDAL04 if you WANT to collect the materials to run the side quests/campaign.

Same issues as the other buyers, bought these for the Curse of Strahd. It has nothing to do with the Curse of Strahd in my opinion.

Yeah I got these as maps for a Curse Of Strahd campaign I was trying to run - really misleading. :(

If you're looking to use these for a Curse of Strahd campaign, I'd advise against it. Sure it's only $3, but the maps are drawn with pen and grid paper & are irrelevant to the Curse of Strahd campaign...

I can't quite tell from the description, but are these the maps from locations in the adventure book, or are these recreations of them maps from the book?

I had the same question, but I went on faith and bought the map set. Well, that was a mistake. I'm not familiar with the D&D Adventurers League and their seasons, but there seem to be league adventures set in Wizard's campaigns. The maps in this set are hand-drawn, black pen on a blue grid paper, sometimes with added green or brown for foilage. They depict locations from adventures like "The Executioner" or "The Broken One". Nice maps, but they have nothing to do with the adventure book Curse of Strahd itself. And they are well done, but no professional maps.

I would have preferred a more detailed description for all the other countries in the world that don't have this Adventurers League. Or just a preview picture of a map, that would make the difference to Curse of Strahd very obvious.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
