Foul Deeds Done

Suggested Price $2.95

A talent show turns deadly as an evil wizard seemingly bent on revenge kidnaps a noble’s son. Foul Deeds Done will see adventurers track this villainous mage to his lair and assault his tower. Once there, however, they will find not everything is as it seems…

Foul Deeds Done is a varied and exciting adventure with many different encounter types, four new magic items, and a new monster. It is designed to be enjoyed by novices and veterans alike. The adventure was written with level 5 characters in mind but there are suggestions for adjusting difficulty to make it easier to tailor to your players' needs.

This is my second piece of community created content. My hope is to get better at writing adventures, something I am passionate about. Please pay what you believe this adventure is worth but most importantly I would greatly appreciate any sort of feedback or criticism.

We LOVED the talent show. Every one of my players went all out prepping a talent. As the DM, I would have appreciated more specific information, like room sizes and a map. Was confused whether the court was part of the "12 onlookers" the PCs were trying to protect. My players loved the twist regarding the BBEG and his true intentions. Half hour pause on the game whether to kill him or accept the situation, arguing between "good" characters and "neutral" ones. I really appreciated the information about giving XP for challenges. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Thanks!

I've recently updated this adventure by doing further editing based on some suggestions. I will continue to tweak things moving forward and will do the same to my other adventure.

It would be nice if you placed your contact email in the adventure for people to send private reviews, or being a member of the Dungeon Masters Guild Fanclub so that private messages can be sent, but here goes.

Was this edited, proofread, and play tested prior to publishing as you seem to have forgotten to include these.
What's with the different size and different fonts on the Headings ... a bit of an eyesore sorry.
The DC's need to conform to what most are use too (DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check, as an example).
The reading text box font needs to be changed to something a lot easier to read.
Title on the bottom of ever page needs to be the actual title of the adventure.
This is just to start from the casual glance at it. If it was edited and proofread, don't use them again.
You can private contact me if you'd like to discuss anything more

I appreciate the feedback a lot! I didn't use any outside help and I will fully admit to having little to no experience proofreading things in this format. I will attempt to take all of this into consideration and try to revise the layout. Thanks again.

Please ... do yourself a big favour and have your work, at the very least, proofread by an independent source. I proofread for some of the big name writers on the guild, which helps them keep their trusted status within the guild. Having your work edited and proofread will also stop those 'a little less sensitive to a writer's feelings' from hammering them in the guild pages. It also helps to get you plenty of 5-star reviews. Try not to be in too much of a rush to get something published, as taking just a few extra days to polish and fine tune is worth the effort.

Oh ... BTW ... try to never use PWYW. This method will only get people to mostly free download, and I believe everyone who takes the effort to write is worth more than that. Also, the free downloads do not go towards your rating. If you want the rating, but would prefer to place it up for practically free, charge .50cents. This is way less than a throwaway cup of coffee, and will get you the rating that you deserve.

Good luck...See more

I didn't think about a lot of this stuff, these are the things I was hoping to learn. Thanks again for the great advice!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
