This is my favorite MT Black adventure. The map is interesting. There’s a creepy mausoleum on one side and a kobold warren on the other. There are multiple paths. The map is dotted with interesting environmental scenes and engaging NPCs. There's much to explore for the players and personalities to inhabit for the GM. All that in just 1 to 3 sessions.

I made a VTT map of the ruins. You can find it on reddit r/battlemaps and r/dndmaps; search for ruins of firestone keep.

the guy included an unlabeled version of the map, it just doesn't get any better than that

I adored this campaign. Such a fun adventure. I built a couple of maps for it in TaleSpire and ran it for my group on that.

Noticed that in 7D, in the coffin of Gorstag Greyborn, the only thing listed as being within the coffin is a scrap of paper that says: "Subject #4 removed to the lab." Haven't run the adventure yet so I haven't read through it super thoroughly, just some of the main plot points so I can see how all I would want to work it into a campaign I'm planning rn, and was just curious if this relates to anything in the adventure, or if it is some sort of easter egg?

SPOILERS: Looking to run this but trying to clarify how/why the PCs would be wary of Zoreene and not hand over Willet?

They may well just hand over Willet - which would lead to a failed adventure, but could certainly happen. I've never heard of this happening in play, though - every party realizes what is up as soon as Zoreene shows up with a group of thugs

This adventure brings me back from burnout as DM. Simple, good design, flexible what else could we ask from module?
Thank you M.T. Black for creating such a masterpiece!
Played with party of 4 heroes lvl 1, everything goes pretty well.

i am curious how many players this was created for. I am currently planning a 2 player game with level 5 characters. would this be enough challenge for them? They will be playing a paladin and a druid.

My assumption was 4-5 characters. Two level five characters might be ok, but it's never been tested out. Let me know how they go!

Hi MTB,

love the adventure and all the work that went into it. One small question: would it be difficult – I guess in terms of "would the time spent be worth the money" – to make a printable version of the adventure in a "one-page per room" format? Ideally with monster/NPC stat blocks situated for easy reference. (For example, in any room where kobolds appear, show a small kobold stat block?) As a time-strapped GM hoping to run friends through quick-and-casual one-shots, an arrangement like that would save heaps of prep time for me. I'd pay extra for this!

Hi Michal, I'm glad you love the adventure!

I'm unlikely to reformat this adventure, but I'm open to new ways of doing things for future adventures. Can you link to an example of the format you are proposing?

Here's a partial version of a Pathfinder adventure, Hungry are the Dead, that I arranged into the style I'm after:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BMYkIqe7VJ_f1f1zTEy-6KV-9W8E3b562iH8tGCdZGk/edit?usp=sharing

(It could definitely be more consistently-formatted and clean, but the rough idea of what I'm describing is there, I think?)

My goal was to make a very easily browsed "all-in-one" reference for each room of the dungeon, to eliminate the downtime of searching for particular pages in books or specific sheets of paper in an ever-growing pile :)

Cheers, thanks for considering this. It might be an oddball "alternative presentation", but I'll dare to dream that it might catch on once people see it :)

Im looking for an adventure that I can provide my PC's with a mostly intact fort or keep at the end. Does this adventure have an intact Keep available to inhabit by the end?

Is there any dungeon with map included in this adventure? If there is, how many rooms? I know these are a bit silly questions, but they're important to me. Thanks.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
