DDAL05-16 Parnast Under Siege (5e)

Watermarked PDF

Despite the adventurers’ best efforts, more creatures joined under Bad Fruul’s banner.

No longer content to simply attack caravans or isolated homesteads, the hill giant warlord descends upon Parnast at the head of a great force of humanoids.

SEER warns the adventurers (directly now) in time to rally the town and prepare defenses, but a heroic effort is required to break the siege.

*This module is meant for level 4 players, anything less than that and the party will either need 6-7 players to survive with action economy or will need to play very smart and roll well. That being said this module is meant to be a season finale to season 5 T1 adventures, although it can be run as a one-off or standalone the players will get more by far if they are familiar with the storyline, NPCs, and have access to NCPs which can help them in this module.

Summary: The players arrive in Parnast to help the townsfolk survive the horde of Bad Fruul which is quite substantial and unassailable without help/allies/militia/scouting etc. The players have many many options for how they want to prepare the town, more options are available if players have successfully completed other S5 T1 mods. The players do a lot of prep work, and then Bad Fruul arrives and begins sending his waves of cannon fodder, scouts, shock troops, and finally himself against the party. This mission is not...See more

Great finale to the arc. Make sure players are appropriate level and don't wipe them out too early the end fight is no joke.

Review as a dm and player:

The siege idea is amazing, however this module is not meant for characters who are level 3 or less. The dm needs to let the players know more of how the siege mechanics work and the battles are extremely hard. This module has a high chance of TPK your group and will almost always run over the 6 hour mark. Recommend studying mounted combat rules for this if you plan to DM.

I like this adventure a whole lot. I would love to run this along with the other season Tier 1 adventures and have this being the final fight since I love Bad Fruul. I loved how he was just a over arching bad guy that wasn't bad because he though it'd be fun, but because he had a reason. A great reason and I love how it all comes back together with the rest of the seasons adventures. The onemail thing I didn't like about this is that if you are on a time constraints, this adventure can run quite long, but in a good way. I would say this is more of a 8 hour mod and you'd definitely need to do the mink epic to get the full experience of it since there are moving parts to it

Please fix the title fonts and sort out the editing. Does anyone read this before posting??? Great idea, poor execution, sad ending to the season.

I like a lot about this mod. I would request an update that better explains the villager death/wave adjustment mechanic - I had to read this a dozen times to understand what was being laid out. If I understand it properly, it also seems to penalize weaker parties more heavily, which is a bit counterintuitive.

And yes, the fonts need to be corrected, unless this is a change moving forward.

Adding my voice to the font issue. Both the adventure and the certificate are messed up.

I will voice my opinion that it would have been nice that all of the headers match all of the other titles this season. Not a fan of this look. Fantastic Adventure the layout with the font's is upsetting to me. I will also echo that printing it looks horrible.

A font not used in any other PDF for Season 5 was used for headers/titles. Instead of the thicker, stylized serif font used, it's some thin font. It prints horribly, with the letters all on top of one another. Please update with the standard title font.

And really, you couldn't have selected a different magic item? A whole chapter of magic items in the DMG to choose for and it's something that has been awarded before?

Almost every item this season is from a previous season.

The magic item a. is great and very desirable, b. hasn't been seen since all the way back in Season 1, and c. has a super cool unique minor quirk that I love. So I totally support its inclusion.

Super cool unique quirk? Meaning this item does not have to be attuned? Its dope!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
