Bad Fruul and his minions have been threatening to overtake the town of Parnast for some time, and intelligence provided by SEER (via HSING) confirms that an attack is imminent. Despite this, the town is at risk from within as internal politics threaten to tear it apart.

It is up to the adventurers to resolve the infighting in Parnast and prepare the town for the hill giant's onslaught.

A nice 2 hour module with investigation, some drive and keeps the players guessing as far as what will be coming their way. It gives the players plenty to look into. My group figured out what to do quickly enough but it didn't make them lose interest. The combat encounter in this is pretty challenging and gives a pretty nice reward.

This is a good module although I'm not sure it can be done justice in a 2 hour time-constrained environment, this module needs 3 hours to be run well in my experience.

PROS: This is a very sandboxy module where players can explore the town of Parnast and the surrounding area to investigate the sabotages that have been occurring there in recent days. The players also can play a hand in deciding who will be left running Parnast after the module is over. Lots of role-playing, investigating, skill checks, and fleshing out the city of Parnast. The magic item is also extremely good for a T1 module.

CONS: Time, Time, Time. There are a lot of red herrings that players can explore, role-play and spend valuable time on that have little to no effect on the scheme of this module. Also, this module has only 1 combat so if you have players who play DnD to roll dice and blow things up they may get antsy.

WHAT I DID: I ran this module twice in the same week at...See more

This was a great module with a pretty decent mystery that kept most of my players running in circles, and only a few managed to catch on. It's great to run fresh, but also a great leap off from Uninvited guests. Though I do wish the two tied together just a little better outside of PC's recognizing players and knowing most of the cast already, such as having some hints to bad goes on during Guests, or at least a section of how to describe the acts of sabotage that players would see during the space between the two chapters. I just had the players themselves see the tower fall down, and a few of the broken wagons, which served well enough to get them interested in going to Redtooth to start the investigation.

The NPC's are also all very well made and feel like part of a living, breathing, realistic community, so hats off to the author there.

The light encounters at the start are nice, but very short, which makes sense. It all pays off to one doozy of a final fight at the end. I had the...See more

Ran this for my FLGS. Since it was their copy, I'm reviewing it here instead of the reviews section.

Overall rating: 3 out of 5.
This was a mixed bag. Some great things about it, some not so great things.

Pros:
Tons of content. The whole adventure was like a mini-sandbox, with lots of potential outcomes, lots of paths to take, lots of areas to explore, lots of NPCs to interact with. Really impressive in that sense. And the characters were nicely fleshed out; the plotline was twisty and interesting; and there were great tie-ins to other adventures / the season's overall plotline.

Cons:
Waaaaay too much in here for a 2 hour mod. Even if the characters don't explore the sandbox, and don't roleplay, but just stick exactly to the major plot points, there is absolutely no way to run this in 2 hours --unless you have like 3 players, and/or you take some major shortcuts like Detecting Thoughts on Tove as soon as you meet...See more

So I am very confused on page 18. It implies that you get extra xp for shattering the statuette, but all references to the statuette states that it is already shattered. Also....the original side quest was to destroy shrines of Cyric but the statuette is a idol of Bane.

Their father was a worshipper of Bane, they turned to Cyric and destroyed the statuette. There is a symbol of Cyric in the room too. That's what they can destroy for XP.

I caught that too, What I explained to my group (with a successful Religion roll) was that Cyric and Bane are enemies and a tell tale sign of a Cyric Alter is desecrated Bane idols would decorate it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
