What is this Adventure?

The Tomb of Crossed Words is a puzzle-heavy adventure for parties of around 3rd level, and should last for around four hours. Written by bestselling DM's Guild author Richard Jansen-Parkes and accompanied with three brand new monsters, beautiful illustrations and countless puzzles, this is a great addition to any DM's collection.

Note that this adventure is only advised for groups that genuinely enjoy puzzles and riddles in real life. If you have any crossword-fiends, die-hard logicians or anagram fans at the table, however, prepare for an enjoyable and unique night of role-playing!

Recently picked up my hand at DM with a homebrew game but wanted to take a small break and try something new. So i bought this and molded it to my world, keeping most of it just changing location names. This was so much fun! My players truly enjoyed it and loved the puzzles. It offered up a great way to role play considering most of my players are new, it helped open them up by interacting with each other via the puzzles AND they stayed in character doing so. lol Thanks for a wonderful story and a great dungeon crawl!

I'm having trouble trying to figure out how The Scroll Library would work. Where are the skeletons standing, it says center, does that mean they are controlling the space in the center row, between the pillars, with their shields at the edge of the pillars?
And since these are medium creatures, they will always control af 5 by 5 ft space, I don't see a way in that room, that the party would ever be able to get past them.
I'm a pretty new DM so I'm sure there is something I'm missing.

Hi! Sorry for taking a while to get back to you.

Yep, they're stood in the middle, blocking the way across the room. However, as the inscription on their shield says, they will follow any adventurers that move away from them. This allows them the party to pull them out of position and walk past them relatively easily. Or they can simply batter one of the skeletons until it drops and get past they way.

I ended up placing then in-between the farther row of pillars... so it went wall-skeleton-pillar-skeleton-pillar-skeleton-wall. This was the farther south pillars, so that the skeletons had room to follow the players.
Also, I decided that if a player simply approached the skeleton, it would try and push them back (without follow-up). If they engaged in combat is when the follow occurs (not just turning their back to the skeleton and walking away from them, which suggests them not retreating in the truest sense).

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
