Banquet of the Damned

Watermarked PDF

Banquet of the Damned is a mystery adventure for a party of 2nd or 4th level characters (a separate PDFs for each level is provided). It takes place in the village of Womford (Forgotten Realms) during the fall but you can easily adapt the adventure to any farming hamlet.

An ancient evil lurks in the shadows of Womford. While everybody is getting ready for the annual pie contest, a vile creature is carefully preparing its next move. It’s only a matter of time before it wrests control of the gluttonous swine of Womford. Will your PCs stop it before it's too late?

In this adventure, you will find:

  • 20 pages of illustrated content (color)
  • 4 to 6 hours of gameplay
  • Two versions of the adventure (two different PDFs): one for 2nd level characters and one for 4th level PCs.
  • 4 new monsters never seen before, including the repulsive gulabus
  • A full description of the village of Womford

Heya! I just wanted to write because I saw you had 2 different pdfs, level 2 and level 4. I've run the adventure already and am running it again. However, I wanted to make a personal print copy of it and now feel the need to print 2 copies to have both options readily available.

Can I suggest that perhaps you either include scaling for level 2 and 4 on the same page in the adventure (see the scaling boxes in dnd adventurer's league modules for an example) or (as I saw you had different stat blocks) you use 2 different pages in the same pdf for the different versions of the stat blocks. There's also the option to simply include scaling by throwing more monsters rather than having completely different statblocks.

For now, I'm considering just editing the pdf to merge the two options, but I think in the future, it would be much cleaner to have one pdf with multiple options rather than two versions to maintain.

Thanks again for the adventure! I really enjoyed it and it caused...See more

Hi Violet,

What you're suggesting is exactly what I wanted to do originally. I had an impossible time deciding how to provide the scaling information to be honest!

At first, I thought about adding an appendix with scaling information at the end of the PDF, but that would have meant a lot of page flipping for the DM when running the adventure, and that's why I decided against it. I prefer when the DM has all the information where he needs it. But now that you make me think about it, the monster stats are also at the end of the book so it might not have been such a great idea after all :).

Anyways, I'm currently working on the next revision of the adventure. I think you're right. I should try to squeeze additional scaling information in an appendix and make a print-friendly version of the two appendixes. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions!

Thanks for listening to my suggestions :) I ended up editing the PDF and add little astericks with the level 2 changes as small font on the bottom of the page (gold differences). I then just added a copy of the lvl 2 appendix after the level 4 appendix with the gulabus stat block added as a third page for lvl 2. It's not beautiful but it works for now.
If you do find a way to merge them, i'll reprint the adventure when the update is released.

Can't wait for Chapel on the Cliff!

I'm thinking about making a Fantasy Grounds mod for this adventure. Would anyone be interested or are the HD maps good enough?

I'd dowloaded this product by the Dragon Magazine. This product is awesome. It is a one shot adventure or a side trek mission for a huge campaing, and has a lot of details and informations that could be an official product!

What software did you use to create the beautiful map of Womford? :O

I made them with Photoshop and a drawing tablet (it's hand drawn). Thank you for telling me by the way. Town maps take a lot of time to make, and it's good to know people are enjoying them!

Care, Spoilers:

At the beginning of the adventure, the text talks about a demon of glutony. But in the rest of the module it talks about a demon of greed. Is this correct?

It was supposed to be a demon of glutony in the entire adventure. I'll fix that in the next update. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention!

It looks so nice and full of despair.
Can this be adapted to Ravenloft?

I would say yes. You'll need to scratch the reference to Princes of the Apocalypse in the introduction and you'll have to adapt the regional map, but that's about it. Both of them are in the introduction of the adventure which is in the full-size preview. It's going to require more work if you want to run the adventure in a village other than Womford (for example in Barovia).

Rule System(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
