I just wanna say M.T. Black is IMO on of the best writers I've used for my campaigns.

I have a question regarding these titles. I play using a VTT (Virtual Table Top), so maps are pretty important. I am trying to gauge the amount of effort to use these in a VTT, can you provide an example of the maps included?

Hi Anon, I'm not sure how I can easily share some of the maps with you. I can tell you that a number of people run my adventures over VTT

Would just need to provide high-res pictures of the maps. Generally always a good idea to include a "PC map" version without numbers and an annotated DM's version with the numbers.

I'm looking to release a Fantasy Grounds mod for one of my adventures soon. If it goes ok, I'll probably do most of them.

Even though I already owned many of these titles, I went ahead and purchased this collection anyway to throw M.T. Black a little more support. I'm a fairly new DM and honestly his adventures have helped me become such a better DM and have a far better understanding of how to design compelling encounters.

Apparently this went up in price by 20% overnight while it was in my basket! Any reason for the price increase?

The adventures I already have are great (Triboar Trilogy) but I can probably only use four of the other 2016 adventures, and at the new price it would be quite a bit cheaper to buy them individually (although they are still good value and I'm a bit of a completist so I'm still pretty tempted). I don't suppose you can somehow offer a discount to people who already bought some of the adventures in the set? :D

Hi Edric, thanks for your kind comments!

Volume II is well underway. I'll be releasing individual adventures throughout the year, and then will release another volume in the collection once I've got about 10.

I fear I may have become an M.T. Black fanboy. Whenever anyone in the community asks for a recommendation of adventures to introduce new players to the game, I instantly skip past the obvious Lost Mines... and point them straight at Black's work. The adventures collected here are fantastic one shots, pieces to build a larger adventure, or great sprinklings to throw into your world for those weeks when the writers block kicks in and you can't think of a story to run. Absolutely perfect for new and seasoned players.

If you are looking to introduce a new player to the world of D&D, then the adventure here called "Tower of the Mad Mage" is perfect for you. It takes around 5 hours or so to play, is perfectly crafted to allow RP, has a nice variety of monsters and creatures, and is guaranteed to have you and your players rolling in laughter.

The current price on this collection makes it a no brainer to purchase, and you are getting a bargain here.

Was enticed by the appetizing price point, took a leap of faith and was not disappointed! Great, clear, print-friendly layouts, very usable maps, pleasant sprinkling of B&W art among the text, varied and catchy locations and scenarios. Covers a nice array of PC levels as well!

With Wizards pushing big campaign books only, this is the perfect product if you want a nice collection of standalone delves and adventures to use in your games! Two thumbs up, keep up the great work, Mr. Black!

Thanks for your support Michael! I like to support the people who have supported me - but I don't appear to have the ability to give a discount to one specific person.

Out of interest - which six are you missing?

I noticed that many of the maps don't say what scale the squares are.
Should I assume that you use 5ft for squares for all of these adventures unless the map lists something different?
Customer avatar
M.T. B December 01, 2016 9:44 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi Jonathan,

If the scale is not mentioned on the maps it is usually mentioned in the adventure text. If you've found any examples where there is no scale whatsoever, please let me know and I will make corrections.

cheers,
MTB

Is there a play order that you'd recommend?
example like,
Tower of the Mad Mage , Wizard in a Bottle and finally The Lurker Beneath Red Larch in that order.

Do these come with a .mod for FG? If not, are the PDFs formatted properly for copy-paste functionality so they can be converted for play in Fantasy Grounds?

There is no .mod for FG. However, you can copy-paste the text.

I saw that. Thanks. I ended up buying this pack and I've started converting Temple of the Nightbringers to FG. I hope you don't mind, but I'm doing 2 versions. Your published version, and a copy that is mine. I didn't like the open-ended generic writing style at first, but I totally get it. It makes it so that it can be adapted.

I think the lead hook is a little weak. With Stink and Retch being from Triboar and considering the reward at that level, seems like an obvious hook, but so little attention was paid to that part of the narrative.

Nice basic dungeon crawl.

I also added real stats for your items like the obsidian disk and the mask. That disk weighs 24.7 pounds according to Earth's math and science. And I've updated that mask so that it reads more like an actual magic item.

I'll send you copies if you want, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get in touch with publishers on this site. Silly.

Hi Jacob,

People are free, of course, to make any modifications they want for their own games. I've modified plenty of bought modules myself.

The best way to get in touch with me is via twitter - @MTBlack2567

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
