I purchased and ran this (as part of a larger campaign), but it must have been on an old DM's Guild account, as it won't let me do a full review.

In any case, the session went really well; this was lots of fun! I'll echo Joshua's comments; one of my PCs has a dog (non-combat; pet only), and the "only affects humanoids" aspect of the orchard enchantment made for an odd logistical conversation. Another tried to pull items out of his Bag of Holding, claiming they'd be full-size.

These won't be issues with most groups, and it certainly didn't ruin the adventure for us (everyone had a good time). But I hadn't thought of them beforehand, and that fact was obvious when it came up at the table. So a sidebar to prep an answer to such issues would have been helpful.

Otherwise, thanks for the quirky one-shot. It was a nice change of pace between longer arcs in my campaign.

I ran this adventure as an immediate sequel to 'Into the Ivy Mansion'. It was an absolute blast. My players really got a kick out of finding out that they were magically smaller, like in 'Honey I shrunk the kids'.

While it is a fun adventure, it does require even more suspension of disbelief than most games. A tip I would have for anyone running this, is to consider the logistics around being shrunk; not something that the text covers much. I had one player try to argue that his magic should not be affected; after all it explicitly states in the rules the a Flaming Sphere is a 5' sphere of fire. By his logic, his magic should still be the same and thus still be doing full 'regular size' damage to creatures such as a raven. I was not prepared for this, but I didn't manage to BS my way through with an explanation that the magic is effecting the character's power and psyche as well, warping the magic to his new perspective of the world. I don't think he 'liked' or 'agreed' with this explanation, but...See more

Thanks Joshua, some helpful comments there!

Regarding the shrinking, my expectation would be that all magical effects also shrink down proportionally. So you are casting tiny fireballs rather than full size fireballs, for example. It's a small oversight in the adventure text, but I would also assume that magic items and pets shrink down with the adventurer.

No, it is certainly a small oversight at most and not that big of a deal. Only a concern if you have primary magic users in your party who might be a schtickler about it. If so, give it some thought and plan a response. Though now that I think back on it I think the best response might have been to tell them to roll an arcana check and, regardless the outcome, shrug and say 'You have no idea how this crazy magic is working and effecting you.'

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
