Akashic Sensitive

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Do you feel the force of the Akashic compelling you to fight or embrace the evil of the world? Use that force... and become an Akashic Sensitive.

Whichever class you might have started out with in this wonderful game of Dungeons and Dragons, stop and take a gander at what could be. A Prestige Class like no other, the Akashic Sensitive is trained to hear the whispers of the universe; to draw upon and use the powers that lay in wait for someone worthy to wield; to become one, with the Akashic.

Modeled after heroes from a galaxy far, far away, the Akashic Sensitive makes use of Ki points to power special attacks and even cast spells. A lot like a monk, the Akashic Sensitive has different paths they can follow to further define their training and experience, called Disciplines.

Check it out. I have played one now since the beginning of 2017 and love it. The Prestige Class also comes with a full listing of gems that can be used as new magic items, or just to flavor your campaign opposed to the bland and limited one already included in the DMG.

I don't really understand how this is a 'prestige class'. One usually prestiges by taking a level in the prestige class. Why is there a 20th level if you have to be at least level 2 anyway? That's two levels that you can't get. I'm very confused...

It was an editorial mistake from the first edition, when it was still a Monk subclass. I will have to update it and amend the levels as a proper prestige class. Thanks for noting it!

I see this has been updated. Neat. I've downloaded and looked at it briefly. I do like what I'm seeing so far, but I'm a little confused on 'the point'. Why is this a prestige class instead of a straight class in itself? Is there an intended two levels one is meant to start our with? If this has 18 levels, why not simply make it a full class? I'm curious in the design decisions so I can understand how it's meant to be played.

Okay I would first like to say I really like this class my only small problem is it doesn't full like a prestige class but that is whatever. I did have 2 questions a the gems make your weapon magical for bypassing resistances. The second one is can you use the same foci on different blades when fighting two handed

A) Yes, the gems are magical so they bypass resistance, same as any othe magic item.
B) Originally, I would have said yes, but as some critics pointed out, you could become pretty uncontrollable given the right combination of gems. So, I decided in my game that you can only ever control one type of gem on your person, much like rings. You can't have more than one "+ AC" gem etc, because it would interfere with the basics that D&D set forth in the game.

Thanks for the kudos! It was originally a regular monk sub-class tradition, but the inclusion of spells being used EVERY short rest made it pretty powerful. Even with the requirement to add more ki to offensive spells, it's still OP for a Monk sub-class. Making it a prestige class also opens it up to other classes who want to multi in it. Good luck and have fun!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
