City State Creator II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The easiest and most enjoyable way to create an epic old school city state of your very own is finally here.

Have you ever wanted to design your own fantasy city comparable to the Free City of Greyhawk, Waterdeep along the Sword Coast, or the City State of the Invincible Overlord?  Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the daunting task?  This volume (along with ELD2, an introductory approach) has everything you need.

Using this book, you can easily create:  workable population figures; a hierarchy of logical and coherent urban areas — from thorp and hamlet to town and city — for any campaign world; an alignment-driven city philosophy; a full array of common and rare denizens according to that alignment; a plan for the number and rarity of leveled NPCs based on population; a culture inspired by one of dozens of epic mythologies; and an array of gods, heroes, and temple ward names.

You will also find tools addressing terrain, climate, future research, recommended old school gaming supplements and articles, quarters and districts, quarter names, economic principles, trade guilds, class guilds, guild advantages and disadvantages, festivals and holy days, mage towers, arenas, and the criminal underworld.

Saga of the Elder City, supplement ELD3:  City State Creator II has been specifically designed to make these tasks easier and far more enjoyable.  Everything you need to create your city in record time is here!  Another old school gaming supplement for 1E and 5E and everything in between, from Kent David Kelly and Wonderland Imprints — Only the Finest Works of Fantasy.  (156 pages, 33,200 words, 16 illustrations.)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
