An Introductory Adventure for Storm King's Thunder.

Characters of Level 1-5

As evening approaches, you spot a wooden signpost next to a trail that heads north into the hills. Nailed to the post are three arrow-shaped signs. The two marked “Waterdeep” and “Daggerford” follow the High Road but point in opposite directions. The third, marked “Nightstone,” beckons you to follow the trail. If memory serves, Nightstone is roughly ten miles up the trail.

Also included in the purchase of this adventure is a version specially converted for use with the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop software. The converted adventure features all the text and maps from the original adventure along with cross-linking of monsters, spells, magic items, equipment, and story elements, plus the powerful rules automation for which Fantasy Grounds is known.

This pdf won't open in adobe reader or in any of the other pdf readers on my computer. It appears to be corrupted.

I purchased the Storms Thunder book, is this just the first chapter from that book? Or is this a separate adventure?

Thanks for this. Will there be player versions of the maps? The included maps have the encounter numbers, etc...

I moved the .mod file to another directory and just tried to move it again. Now it won't let me move it or delete it and it says that I don't have permission to do so. Is this something anyone else has come across yet?

finally got the .mod file. But, the product title is still misspelled(Upheaveal instead of Upheaval). I'm still seeing people on Facebook complain that this is making it difficult to search for.

Had the same printing issue others have mentioned printing from Acrobat. I dragged the file into Chrome and printed from there with no issues.

The PDF has a corrupt type format or something. When I print it gobbledygooks the whole damned thing.

This PDF is a pile! When I go to print it there isn't a single paragraph that doesn't have words or whole sentences just missing on the print out. Looks fine on the screen, but does not print correctly at all. And before AL staff jumps in and says I'm doing it wrong, I have a full version of Adobe Creative Suite CC installed, including Acrobat Standard and all Adobe fonts. I work with PDFs for a living and the only time I see stuff like this is when someone doesn't know what their doing. I tried re-printing it as a PDF using two different drivers, re-saving it as an earlier version of Acrobat, and printing it with just Reader DC and I get the same results. It wasn't until I tried to export the pages as images that all of the word came through correctly. Perhaps from there you can reassemble the images into a workable PDF. Whomever is putting this together needs to check their settings, update their installation, or pay attention to what they're doing. I would post screen shots but there is no way to do that here,...See more

OK, I was able to fix this issue for me by changing a few settings. Unfortunately this probably won't work for everyone, it depends on the quality of your printer. When you go to print select the Advanced Options of the printer and change the Settings to CUSTOM. Then goto OUTPUT and change the Transparency Flattener Preset to HIGH RESOLUTION, and check USE MAXIMUM AVAILABLE JPEG2000 IMAGE RESOLUTION. Then under the printer check the PRINT AS IMAGE option, and select the highest DPI your printer will support (mine was 600). When you select the DPI the OUTPUT settings should be greyed out, but they should not change. This will take much longer to print too. Something about converting this to an image file and then printing it bypasses whatever shortcomings were created when it was ripped from layout to PDF. Hopefully someone will read these comments and do something about.

the page title is still misspelled, Upheaveal instead of Upheaval. Also, where are the Fantasy Grounds file(s)? I only see the pdf, not the vtt files.

I've downloaded this .pdf, and upon printing it noticed that there are several issues with lines and words missing. It doesn't appear that why on my screen, but the print out looks all hodge-podge. Anyone else have that issue?

Changing the print quality before printing sometimes will take care of that.

We tried that. My IT dept even came up and checked the Adobe version and the printer. For some reason the current Adobe just does not work with it, even after deleting and reloading and forcing a driver update. So we went through another .pdf reader and no problems.

Adventure league is separate from the released books. They are adventures that are created in the same world as the setting found in the released books, but do not tie in to the story line laid out in the campaign book.

Is there a separate file for stat blocks on the people and monsters? Or are we supposed to just use the Monster Manual and wing it?

The title (correctly spelled in the PDF itself) is misspelled as "Upheveal", which will cause searches for "Upheaval" to not return this product.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
