Arcane Slayer Class

New Playable Player Class for D&D 5th Edition, the Arcane Slayer

The tall human charges into the middle of a orc horde with his flaming sword ablaze and strikes a foe down. Next he unleashes a wave of arcane energy from his sword into the oncoming enemies.

A half-elf female calmly gestures with her hand and a swirling magical energy circles around her foe from a distance, with the lock in place, she accurately dispatches the fire memphit with one of her ice arrows.

Regardless of their focus, arcane slayers are heroes who channel magical energies into their attacks. Some slayers learned these techniques from their predecessors, others have inherently been able to enhance their attacks ever since they started fighting. Regardless, their fighting style is a force to be reckoned with.

Arcane Slayer Highlights:

• Use your arcane focus to do extra damage with your attacks.

• Use your Slayer Points to activate special powers.

• Specialize in charging into battle doing arcane reckless attacks, or stay back and tactically assist your allies.

V1.1 Changes

• Aura modifiers have been capped to make them more balanced.

• Added heavy armor to reckless slayer, to make the strength build more appealing

• Added range to arcane lock

• Clarified arcane weapon fighting

• Switched arcane imbue with arcane recovery

• Made arcane imbue not as powerful but not require a slayer point

• Capped damage surge maximum to 20

• Made slayer points only come back on long rest

I have a few of questions. First how is Arcane Weapon Fighting activated? Is it a bonus action? Is is always on? Does it have a duration? Does it apply to arrows fired from a bow? Can you change the damage type every attack or per activation? This ability is similar to the Blood Hunter's Crimson Rite but does not have any of the drawbacks. Was this intentional?

Second, what is the range of Arcane lock? Is it anything in line of sight?

Third, does Arcane Barrage require normal ammunition or does the ability create some form of magical arrows?

Thanks for your time.

Hey Aaron, thanks for your feedback.

Arcane Weapon Fighting is automatically activated when you hit. It is always on and has no duration. Yes it applies to ranged attacks as well. Yes you can change it per attack, I will update the text to explain that it uses the damage type you last used unless you specify otherwise.

As for a comparison with the Crimson Rite, its true the damage die were inspired from that, but it isn't designed to be an exact comparison. You may notice that the crimson rite's drawback is not much of a drawback if you are already damaged a bit under your maximum health. Also Arcane Weapon Fighting currently doesn't allow you to use heavy armor or shields to prevent multi-class abuse. If you compare all the abilities as a whole for both classes I think they are comparable, but it may need more tweaking with respect to power. I tried to make this class comparable in some ways to the Monk, Paladin, and Blood Hunter, but unique in its own way as well, focusing on a arcane...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
