Description

These form-fillable PDF Spell Sheets allow you to keep track of all your spellcasting needs. There is one for every class, 12 pdfs in total. You can use them as-is or add more spells using the menus.
These sheets are extracted from MPMB's Character Record Sheet, available here on Dungeon Masters Guild. The full character sheet allows you to generate identical sheets to these here, but inside the same pdf as your Character Sheet, adventure logsheets, companion sheets, etc. It will generate a spell sheet based on your exact selection of multiclassing, racial spellcasting, and feats. If you are looking for a powerful tool that can do all that, try MPMB's Character Record Sheet.

Remarks

These Spells Sheets only works with Adobe Acrobat version DC, either Reader, Standard, or Pro, running on Mac OS or Windows. Note that mobile versions of Adobe Acrobat do not support the auto-fill and auto-calculations (see FAQ). Get Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for free here.

Mac users, please be careful to never open the sheets with Preview. Opening them even once with Preview will cause the sheet's form-fillable fields and automation to be the subject to a disintegration spell.

Please note that the version number of these sheets is to indicate the version of MPMB's Character Record Sheet they were extracted from. These sheets will most often be of a lower version than the Character Record Sheet, because not all updates include changes that are pertinent to the Spell Sheets.

Please take a look at the sheet's built-in FAQ before posing your questions.

n be found in the sheet's built-in FAQ, as well as answers to a lot of questions.

If you try this sheets, please rate them and, if you feel like it, write a review. I would love to get your feedback!

I am new to D&D so please forgive me for asking but is barbarian supposed to have one of these sheets as well?

The barbarian class can't cast any spells, with the exception of one or two gained from some subclass' features, so a spell sheet would be completely empty. The same goes for the fighter and the rogue, only a single subclass for each of those has a spellcasting ability, so that's why only those two subclasses have a spell sheet here, and there is no spell sheet for the entire fighter or rogue classes.

Since getting the new versions I am unable to import and the help on exporting is not all that helpful. The FAQ actually doesn't talk about exporting but instead only speaks of importing but with the assumption that I simply print the sheet out as a standard pdf as the FAQ alludes then testing to see it import back into a blank sheet I receive the following error:

"the opened document is not recognized as being on of mpmb's character record sheets"

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I have been busy moving to another country and for the last week my DMs Guild account was inaccessible for some technical reason.

From your comment I'm guessing you meant to write this for the Character Sheet as the Spell Sheets don't offer a way to import.

You can only import from a MPMB's Character Record Sheet that has all the form-fields, JavaScript, and everything. When you print to a PDF, you reduce the sheet to the things that would be printed, thus removing all the form-fields, JavaScript, and all of the automation. Hence, it is no longer something that can be read by the importing script.

Thus, I'm sorry, but you will have to import from the pdf with which you made...See more

I love your work on these character sheets and related record keeping documents. Sadly, my income is pretty crappy right now, otherwise I would totes become a patron to you. Also, cheers on favoring one of the best colors (in my humble opinion)!

Hey, I really like how your character sheets are laid out and work, however, due to the homebrew nature of my group (and my class as I am a Kensai from Heroes of the Orient). Is there a way to just input the information like a normal form-fillable pdf without the auto-calculations/requiring there to be already programmed stuff.

Also, I'm lost as to where the FAQ is.

I'm not sure you meant to leave a comment for the spell sheets, as you mention the character sheet.

All the fields on both the character and the spell sheets are fillable with whatever text you want, although some might be overwritten or get additional text because of the automation when you type in something that is recognized by the automation. If you want to stop the automation from running, you can select to set things to 'manual' using the "Manual" button in the 'JavaScript Window' or the "Auto/Manual" bookmark.

You can similarly open the Frequently Asked Questions with the "FAQ" button in the 'JavaScript Window' or the "FAQ" bookmark.

I'm not sure if I meant to either. But thanks for responding.

As it turns out, I thought my Surface Pro's version of Adobe would work (since it's full windows), but it wasn't up to the task. When I did things on my desktop, it worked out much better. Thank you for what must have been a derpy and possibly confusing post.

If it to work on you Surface depends on if you are running Windows RT or not (because you need x86/x64 Windows, and not RT). I don't think that they made Surface Pro (any version) with Windows RT, so you are probably good in that regard.

If you are not on Windows RT, you still have to make sure that you use the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, and not the Windows Store version. Try uninstalling your Adobe Acrobat Reader and installing it from here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/

This sounds like a weird bug, one that I am not able to replicate. Can you tell me what you are doing exactly? What happens when you press the "Spells" button in the 'JavaScript Window' (or "Spells Options" bookmark) and select the option "Change the number of Spell Slot checkboxes"? Do the fields with the blue text not appear, or do they appear but are not editable?

No problem, it isn't that obvious how it works here, the Character Record Sheet is (hopefully) somewhat more user-friendly.

However, I can assure you, that there is no version of this sheet where there are fields for the spell slots.

I do wish that for the paladin spell sheet you could add the oath spells. But seriously, all of your work is excellent and beyond comparison of anything else remotely similar. Cheers!

You can add the oath spells. Not through automation, but you can manually add the spells. There are several ways you can do this.

The simplest way is that you can type the name of the spell in the "Spell" column and the sheet will fill out the rest. You can replace one of the other spells or one of the empty lines.

Each line of spells comes with a built-in menu. If the button on the left is visible (i.e. grey with an ">" in it) you can just click it and get the menu. If it is a checkbox (cirlce), you have to hold the Ctrl, Shift, or Cmd button while clicking it to get the menu. See the mouseover text for more information. This menu enables you to add a spell from a selection, insert lines, delete lines, etc. etc.

Alternatively you can use MPMB's Character Sheet (www.dmsguild.com/product/186823/) to generate a Spell Sheet just like the ones here, but with all the subclass/feat/racial/multiclass stuff added in automatically.

Do note that...See more

The character sheet was taken down for using parts of the official character sheet, which is not allowed by DMs Guild rules (or outside of DMs Guild, as the art is protected by copyright). Obviously the title here (the spell sheets) also uses part of the official character sheet, as do many other titles on DMs Guild. The rules don't seem to be enforced consistently.

You can always get my character sheet with a non-WotC design here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/rpgdownloads.php?do=download&downloadid=1180

Maybe they were embarrassed b/c your sheets were significantly better than theirs. Can't have them looking bad.

Somewhat unrelated note: will your sheets be updated to reflect the new Unearthed Arcana for Rangers? I would attempt it as part of the community mods, but I have zero experience w/ coding.

MPMB's Character Record Sheet has just been put online again by DMs Guild! It has gone through some graphical changes to make it no longer infringe on any copyright, but all the automation is still there.

I love the new UA revised ranger and will be writing code for it for sure! However, I am currently abroad for a couple of weeks, and also pretty busy with work. So it might be a while before I have working code for the revised ranger.

Loving these sheets! Downloaded the latest version (v12.08). Noticed that, for some reason, the spell sheet generation doesn't go as smoothly as in the other version. Takes much longer, regardless of the size of the spell sheet, and several times it locked up and I had to force close the application and restart. Save early, save often!

I really like the style, but it looks like some adjustments can be made. Having MPMB's in the title causes a naming error due to the apostrophe being a special character in coding. This causes the names to be stripped out in the compressed file download. Also, clicking on FAQs to read about the sheet does nothing--looking at the javascript shows it is trying to load FAQ.pdf, which is not present in this package.

Thank you for your feedback. You are right, I totally forgot to put the FAQ attachments in the pdf's I will do that shortly.

I'm not sure what it is that is going wrong with the apostrophe in the file's name, but I'll make sure that the new files I upload will have better names.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
