Remarks

This Character Record Sheet only works with Adobe Acrobat version DC, either Reader, Standard, or Pro, running on Mac OS or Windows. Note that mobile versions of Adobe Acrobat do not support the auto-fill and auto-calculations (see FAQ). Get Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for free here.

Mac users, please be careful to never open the sheets with Preview. Opening them even once with Preview will cause the sheet's form-fillable fields and automation to be the subject to a disintegration spell.

Please take a look at the sheet's built-in FAQ before posing your questions.

If you try this sheet, please rate it and, if you feel like it, write a review. I would love to get your feedback!

Acknowledgements

The Dragon Head added in v12.1 on the first page is taken from the character sheet by Bruno Mendonça, which is a well-made and compact one-page character sheet worthy of your attention.

The 'Player Reference' page added in v11.9 was inspired by the Character Sheet by /tg's /5eg. The dragon in the header has been directly copied from that sheet and it deserves all the credit.

These sheets would not have been in the state that they are in now, without to the work of some awesome people:

A big thanks to Gretkatillor over on ENworld.org. The code in this character sheet (since its redesign from v6.0 onwards) has partly been borrowed from and was otherwise inspired by Gretkatillor's work.

Furthermore, some people on ENworld.org deserve my thanks for their help with transcribing stuff: shmooel.yakov, Fitsou, Athinar, and Noah Ivaldi.

Lastly, Noah Ivaldi deserves a special mention for his help in making sure everything is proper English, which as a non-native speaker is very much appreciated!

Once again posting to say thanks again for your assist last week! I ended up figuring out the exact issue and had rectified it (it was regex). 2 things! First, I actually just about completely created the Dawnforged Alchemist if you have any interest in it I could send it your way for validation and jazz. The second thing, I'm having 2 issues with the sheet, small ones though. 1) The spell sheet isn't auto-generating at level 1, it only kicks off at level 3 when I add bonus spells despite I can clearly tell it's reading my spellcasting ability, list, and stats. 2) The "To Prepare" -- is there a variable I can set for this? Right now its using the default of class lvl+Int mod, but I was hoping to manually set it or override it.

Thanks!

Please send me the scripts that you made. I would love to add more content to the Fan-made Additions Dropbox folder! You can contact me via Flapkan[at]gmail.com

1) This was asked below by Cassandra, so let me repeat my answer: The sheet doesn't automatically make a spell sheet, it only gives you a reminder-prompt that something has changed and that you might want to generate a spell sheet. But you are correct that this reminder doesn't appear for 1st-level classes. This was originally intentional, because it would cause the code to throw an error. However, that was a long time ago and a lot of that code has since changed. I will see if I can make it so that the sheet also prompts you when making a 1st-level character.

2) As all PHB classes use the same formula for the amount of spells they can prepare, I hard-coded this into the sheet. You could alter the function to use another method (see GitHub), but it is not supported as an attribute to the classes JSON.

Great sheet mate! Love the way the Auto-fill works. The only problem I have is that I use the PHB optional Varient Human, and there isn't an option for it in the Sheet without adding it in separately.

Actually there is...after you add HUMAN as your race...scroll down to Racial Traits on page 2...there should be a "Racial Options" button in the bottom right corner of that box... Select Variant.

Curtis G. already addressed this correctly. Races that have variants and not subraces, don't get those variants listed in the drop-down box. Instead, the variants can be selected with the button on the second page.

Again, great product. I have a question for you: I have a friend who has created a new class, and there is a feature that increases base speed. Is there a way to modify the speed based on an ability score, such as 'increases by 5 (ft) multiplied by your Con (could be any) mod'? I understand the flat +5/+10 such as with Monk, just wondering if there was anything different if using multiplication.
Customer avatar
morepurplemorebetter J June 20, 2017 1:54 pm UTC
CREATOR
By the default functionality of the sheet, there is no way for speed to be dependent on both level and ability score. I would suggest just manually changing it, or adding a calculation to the fields for speed and encumbered speed. You could do it like the Monk does, re-calculate the speed every time the level changes, but when you do this by multiplying something with the Con modifier, you will have the problem that when the Con modifier changes and you then go up a level, you will first have the sheet remove the wrong amount of speed from the previous level, as the Con modifier changed, and then add the right amount for the current level. The total will then still be wrong. Thus, copying the way the Monk class does it will work, as long as the ability score modifier it is tied to never changes.

Great to hear you refer everybody to using my work :)

Currently I am only adding stuff from the printed materials to the sheet, because the enormous amount of content out there is just too much ;) I understand that Eye of the Tempest is an AL adventure. Since I don't play AL, I don't buy any of those adventures, so any new content in them completely passes me by and I have no intention to buy it just to see if there might be any new content in them.

If you transcribe the creature, I will be happy to add it to the Fan-made Additions Dropbox folder!

Hey MPMB, love the sheet, started using it with my friends and and beginning to take a stab at adding some homebrew stuff - simple stuff like backgrounds was a breeze. Is your Weapons Syntax correct though? I'm currently following it to a tee based on the additional content syntaxHomebrew Syntax - WeaponsList.js and while the weapons get added to the list (Full Blade for instance from the Expanded Armory found somewhere here on dmsguild.com), none of the stats I'm providing show up. Any thoughts? I can provide the syntax context if you have any interest/want to know more.

Thank you for the review!

The Homebrew Syntax - WeaponsList.js is correct as far as I can tell. I am happy to take a look at your code to see what might be causing the problem. Often the problem is with the regExpSearch attribute, which needs to result in a TRUE when tested against the name attribute of the weapon you are adding.

If you want to reduce the sheet to an PDF that is no longer editable, your best course of action is to print to PDF (because I'm guessing that is preferable to separate image files).

If you run Windows 10, you should have a built-in PDF printer. Just print the document like any other, but select the "Microsoft print to PDF" printer.

If you use another operating system, you will have to look around for a PDF printer. An easy way to get a good reliable PDF printer is to install the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Although you will only be able to use the software for 30 days, you should be able to use the Acrobat PDF printer that gets installed alongside it indefinitely.

All you need to do to use the Arcane Archer from the Unearthed Arcana: Revised Subclasses, is include that source (UA:RS). The sheet automatically uses the latest version of the subclass. However, you might be using an older version of the sheet where this was not the case. So please be sure to use the latest version, v12.993.

You can also just exclude all Unearthed Arcana sources that you don't want to use, so that the sheet automatically uses the Arcane Archer version that you want to use.

To exclude or include sources, use the "Sources" button in the 'JavaScript Window'-toolbar or the "Source Material" bookmark.

The Curse Bringer invocation is taken from the 2017/02/13 Unearthed Arcana: Warlock and Wizard, and has as prerequisites the Pact of the Blade and the Hexblade patron. So if you want to use the Curse Bringer Invocation, your character has to meet all these prerequisites and the source has to be set to be included.

To do this, follow these steps:
1) Add the source 2017/02/13 Unearthed Arcana: Warlock and Wizard to the list of included sources;
2) Make a level 3 Warlock with the Hexblade patron (level 3 because otherwise you won't be able to select a Pact Boon, which is a 3rd-level class feature);
3) Go to the second page and click on the "Choose Feature" button on the top left. This will open a menu;

Magic Stone does not appear as an option in the weapon/cantrip section.

Also, I'm sure this has been requested before, but it would be very nice if there was an easy way to import a number of creature stat blocks for use in conjuration spells (similar to how the wild shape pages already work).

Thank you for your suggestions!

Magic Stone is not an attack cantrip on its own and can be used in several ways, this is why it doesn't fit to the format used in the attack section and has thus been excluded. But I will see if with the new context-aware attack functionality it might be possible to add Magic Stone.

A sheet just for conjuration would require the creation of a completely new page, the addition of many, many new creatures to the JSON, and a rethinking of how to fit those creatures snugly onto a page so that multiple can fit. Also, you will end up printing a lot of pages if you want to have all conjuration options handy for what the DM decides you conjure (most creature conjuration spells, by RAW, have their outcome decided by the DM). I will add this as 'major' feature addition option to be voted upon on my Patreon!

Sorry to hear that the sheet is not importing everything. I just tested this by importing a level 6 Circle of the Land Druid from a v12.993 sheet into a v12.993 sheet and it worked without issue.

What I did is set the land to "Desert" using the "Choose Feature" button on the second page and import the sheet using the "Import Directly from a PDF" functionality.

Did you use the same method?

Note that importing from very old versions of the sheet might cause some things not to be imported correctly.

Can you give me a walkthrough of how to reproduce the issue you are experiencing? Or, probably easier, send me a copy of the sheet you are trying to import from and let me...See more

It is unfortunate to hear that the sheet is crashing Acrobat like that! I am not able to reproduce the issue. Whenever I have the sheet generate the spell sheet pages, it works without fail. Maybe the crashes are due to some kind of setting, combination of spells you are selecting, or something else. Can you tell me how to reproduce this issue or, better yet, send me a copy of the sheet with which you are having the problems?

I am assuming that with 'crashes' you mean that Adobe Acrobat stopped working and you get a dialogue from Windows saying that the application will be closed. Because generating a multi-page spell sheet can take quite long, sometimes more than an hour, and during that time Adobe Acrobat will be completely unresponsive...See more

1. You can import a character from an old sheet into a new sheet. To do this, download and open the new sheet and click on the "Import" button or "Import/Export" bookmark. This opens a menu where you have to select "Import Directly from a PDF (recommended)". Now simply follow the instructions in the dialogues to bring your character over to the newer version!

2. There is no pre-generated spell sheet for monks. You can have the character sheet generated a spell sheet for you, which has the added benefit of only displaying those things that pertain to your character's selection of abilities and will also include any spells gained from race, feats, multiclassing, and whatnot.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
