Unleash the true power of the Tarokka Deck!

PRODUCT INFORMATION

This product provides Players and Game Masters with the following for thrilling play:

  • New rules to expand the use of the Tarokka Deck into your game.
  • An alternative to the inspiration system using Tarokka cards.
  • Rules how to implement despair and morale using Tarokka cards.

FEEDBACK: This is a new concept for 5th Edition and therefore, we need constructive feedback on how to enhance or streamline the rules.  Are the features to powerful or not powerful enough?  Is the alternative worth a point of inspiration?  Future updates will refine the rules as well as include a FAQ.

Although designed for the Ravenloft Campaign SettingTM, this product easily adapts into your favorite campaign, including Forgotten RealmsTM

Note: This product requires the Tarokka Deck or a similar substitute.

Was hoping this might have some rules on how to use the Tarroka deck as a Tarot style deck so could do readings for players characters instead is just the despair/morale rules which while useful, was hoping for more. good product nonetheless

Thanks for the praise. That would be a good update to the product, but the Ravenloft adventure did sort of a good job of something similar. Whatever the card drawn for the reading is where the goal (item, event, etc.) is located in the adventure. If I could generalize that concept to a simple rules system, I will consider updating the product. There is a lot of possibilities for its use - even as a sort of character background development in game (as part of a reading) rather than have it happen during character creation. Something for me to think about - thanks!

A quick Google will reveal an adaptation of the traditional tarot using the Tarokka.

Sorry for the delay - when I made the announcement, I forgot it was 4th of July weekend. Anyway, minor update - more grammatical changes in the next update. Biggest addition are alternative rules for playing with the high deck when not using the despair optional rules.

Update on Monday, if not sooner. It will be more of a cosmetic update. I hoped to have more, but still fine tuning the additional rules.

Most definitely - just been busy. I plan on doing a small revision and attempting to design an archetype that involves the cards.

Feedback:
Read the entire thing through again and check for typo's and spelling errors. I saw a few that were distracting.

PLEASE fit the two lines of rules text at the top of page 4 back on page 3. If I want to print out the card reference pages for players it looks tacky at the top of the page.

Lastly, maybe go through some of these and re-evaluate them for fun value and game impact. For example why does Artifact give a level of exhaustion? Seems weird... and the boon is very situational and would probably leave the player feeling disappointed.
Tarokka Deck Unleashed was maybe an hour or 2 worth of polish away from being a 5 star rating.

Thanks for uploading.

Thanks for the feedback - it is highly appreciated. I am on vacation at the moment and won't be back until Monday (30th), but I will make it a priority when I return. I plan on making a "cheat sheet" for players.

As for the exhaustion for the artifact, I wanted to give a feel of possession/draining (I don't have my notes with me at the moment of what it was originally, but if I remember, it was easier to explain by saying a level of exhaustion and close to what I had in mind). Plus, while situational, not expending a spell slot (or even needing to be a spellcaster) or the expensive components is powerful.

I will see if I can improve upon it (it was the last one I did, therefore, I may have had a level of exhaustion myself).

But with feedback (like this one and the previous review), I will definitely reevaluate the powers and refine the rules, so thanks again and Happy Gaming!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
