Great Adventure, my players and me had a lot of fun. During the collapse they ran the wrong way.. only to have the entrance blocked behind them while they realized their mistake based on the description of the area.

Added a pet raven familair to Gideon for people with speak with animals. They also see him just before getting caught in the storm.

Made adjusted maps in Dungeon Alchemist, will upload them to the steam workshop.

EXTREMELY GOOD ADVENTURE!

I have been DMing for years and wanted to run a quick prep one-shot for my daughter, cousins, and other adult family members. All of the players were noobs with the exception of one. I normally write all of my own content, and homebrew almost everything. This adventure was as good as it gets and easily comparable to adventures I take days to write on my own.

Given that I had 6 PCs at Level 3, I made only a few changes to make it more challenging. First, I increased Gideons hit points to 50 from 38. Second, I used max HP for the minor flesh golem (Magnus) and for the Ogre (The Butcher). Finally, I replaced "The Offspring" with a Max HP Woe Strider (169 HP). Given the story about the Offspring, I did have it run up and attack and retreat to a corner so the party was not constantly in the Anitmagic cone. With these changes, the party was challenged and was very worried about the final battle, but they made it through and it made them feel very...See more

Best adventure I've runs yet.
I've run this twice and both times turned out different in great ways. There's plenty of room for believable homebrewing and making stuff up on the fly. I especially loved the encounter with the wife in her room (Perfect track I used to accompany it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXC5pgOKcRw&list=OLAK5uy_nt4Hpnjr5vhVVoFZKbW4JgpLD2RfTC5AQ&index=18&t=0s )
The map is just a tad to large (1 square) if u use a normal sized adventure grid but otherwise, it's honestly IMO a near perfect campaign. Both sessions I ran took around 6 hours to complete.

9/10 Cannot recommend this enough!

Hi, I have a couple of questions before buying this package, which seems like great value:
1) How many of these contain maps, and are the maps suitable for VTT play?
2) Are all the adventures for low level or is there a good range of mid and high level adventures too?

Hi Jacob, this is a single adventure. It is not a collection.

This adventure was extremely fun to play as part of a horror campaign. Though, in 5th edition, "Supernal" is now called "Infernal". Not that this affected the gameplay at all.

Ran this the other day with a group of 4 level 5 characters. Scaled it a bit but it was amazing. All the players loved every second of it and it was very easy to navigate as a DM. Just picked up Magic Village for Sale and my players can not wait to play another one by our new favorite M.T. Black!

Does this adventure easily scale up in difficulty for a party of 5th/6th level?

Hi Matt, that's quite a big jump. Doubling the number of creatures in each encounter will (very roughly) achieve what you want.

Howdy M.T. B,

I just read through this and noted a few minor problems. Both the Butcher and Offspring are large sized creatures, yet the Hallway in the basement is only 5ft.

The Manor seems a bit small to me, possibly opening it up a bit and adding more to the second floor would help give it a more 'ominous' feel. Also I feel the vibe of this module needs a few secret doors :) If I get a chance I might draw up my own maps for this, if I do I will try and share them with you :)

Overall I like the feel of the whole adventure, the portal to the abyss is quite a nice touch as well!

I really liked the adventure, but the challenge with the warlock is near impossible for 3 level characters. By casting the fileball into his study he caused an instant TPK. The fireball in particular can melt any 3th level carachter.

Hi Alessandro, I'm sorry to hear about your TPK! There are several ways for the party to defeat the sorcerer. If you watch this livestream near the end, you will see how at least one party did it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHXuwDDqZVo.

But if they all get caught in the fireball and all fail their saves, and the damage roll is high, they will be in trouble. Personally I probably would have had the party wake up naked and on 1 hitpoint in the Pen downstairs the next morning, and play it forward from there. But I am a gentle DM!

Ran this last night with my group. Started off with the Barbarian running off towards the light leaving the sorc and rogue behind in the fog to get attacked. They then proceeded to walk to the front door, not pick the lock and try find another way in. Got inside and to the kitchen and were attacked by Magnus who crit the barb leaving him at 1 hp. Gurny then ran out from his room and apologized for not hearing them knock (They didnt even think to do that). Many laughs were had.

Loved it and shall look into more adventures when I want to do a 1 shot between sessions!

Best part yet! A masterpiece. I'll have to think of a few increasingly discouraging ways for location 20 though! I might end location 20 (if my PCs persist) with a method of ending in location 18.

Regarding location #20 - you could put a gate on it if your party is overly curious...

Hi Patrick - the cover came from shutterstock, so I'm not sure who the artist is. The interior art came from a couple of spot art collections I bought on RPG now. I can look up the exact titles if you wish. It's all good stuff!

I was just noticing some of my art in there. (From my dmg art sets: Art for Your Adventures). When you put the artist names in the artist section, it allows people to click on the name to see their other work and leads to getting more recognition as an artist. All of my artwork is listed as Patrick E. Pullen for instance. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
