Priest's Spell Compendium Vol 3 (2e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Priest's Spell Compendium is a three-volume series describing every priest spell for the AD&D game.

Spells have been collected from rule books, campaign settings, supplements, adventures, and magazines dating back to 1975. Early entries have been updated to be immediately usable, making this the player's and DMs definitive source for priest spells.

This volume contains priest spells of all levels, SP through Z. The first spell is Spike Growth, the last Zone of Truth.

NOTE: This PDF is missing pages included in the original book. A new version is on our list of products to acquire for Classic D&D updates.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

Do you have an idea when the update file with ALL pages will be available? The first advise around 40 pages are missing was in may. Please doen't let us wait for years to have a complete book, as it should be from the beginning. Thanks.

The website just added this line to the description:

"NOTE: This PDF is missing pages included in the original book. A new version is on our list of products to acquire for Classic D&D updates."

Pages 831 to 863 still missing at the moment.

Correct. I bought the pdf and it's largely incomplete. I made the purchase without reading the comments unfortunately.

As I can see in the preview, you are SELLING the exact same pirate bootleg that is available for FREE on pirate sites. That's pretty shameful.

If these were cleaned up and made PoD, they'd be an immediate Top Seller.

The OCR is terrible on this. The scan is extremely faded, so whatever software they used missed huge chunks of text. Wizards compendium has the same problem but this is worse.

Whenever you would like to listen to your customers would be great - I mean, you've reprinted far lesser books in the past. Please reprint the compendiums - they are ridiculously expensive on the used market and PDFs aren't my favorite!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This PDF is missing the last 20 or so pages, which had the spell index to the Wizard Spell Compendium series and the errata for the first two volumes of the Priest Spell Compendiums. Please fix this ASAP!

I've received my POD hardcover versions of all three Priest Spell Compendiums from Lulu... Outstanding! I paid $20/volume, delivered. I went with the lowest quality of paper, but they are superbly functional. I did not upload the original covers, opting to make my own, using Lulu's template; I did use similar colors, so they are both properly labeled, as well as being color coded -- I can tell at a glance which volume is which. The text is readable, but not crisp (if I ever print them again, I will select higher qualities). The printed pages have shadows over the page images, with stark white gutters, where the PDF pages did not print. I don't care, though. They are hardcover volumes, and they contain an incredible amount of gaming material! Love the fact that I have hardcover versions! Link to a slideshow of images of my hardcover books: https://photos.app.goo.gl/SzPprt2GYGXDXmxY8. Judge for yourself. Cheers!

I got tired of waiting... I navigated through the hassles of prep'ing my purchased (encrypted) PDF copies for HARDCOVER printing on Lulu Press (my PDF's had to be decrypted before Lulu would accept them; the covers had to be removed from the internal PDF image files, as well). It will take about one month to receive them, but I will get all three volumes, in HARDCOVER, for ~$20 per volume! The covers will be different, as I did not wish to hassle with recreating them exactly as they were. I went with cover colors as close to the original schemes used, by following Lulu's cover templates. I went with lower quality options for paper and ink. I assume they will be similar to POD copies I've previously purchased here, on DriveThruRPG. I find them perfectly acceptable, and useable. I'll post back after I receive them. Cheers!

Hard copies, on e-Bay, are selling for typically $70+, for each individual copy of Volumes 1 & 2, while Volume 3 copies, are selling for $250+! I think this demonstrates there is a market for POD versions, WotC/Hasbro. Please do the necessary to put together POD versions of these books, and make them available to your customers, for a more reasonable price point. Thank you.

I printed this, single-sided, excluding the covers, on an HP color laser printer, using gray-scale printing only, at full quality (more toner), not the econo-mode (less toner, less quality). It used up one-half of the black toner cartridge, at a cost of $79 per full, standard capacity, toner cartridge.

That means that each volume in this 3-volume set, will cost around $40 to print, in toner costs alone (roughly 270 pages, per book). I printed all three volumes, with the first and second volumes emptying what was left in my black toner cartridge. After I replaced the toner, it emptied 50% of the new cartridge, printing the third, and final, volume of the series of books. Your experiences may vary, but I wanted to give folks an idea of how much it will cost, to print a decent copy of this, at home, using a LaserJet printer.

To put this into perspective, I bid on OOP hard copies, on e-Bay: they consistently sold for $92 per volume! I was bidding $80 per volume, and I was outbid repeatedly....See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
