Epic Options

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This Handbook brings Epic Levels to DnD 5e.

Content includes 4 different means of advancing beyond level 20, including epic versions of each class which scales to 30th level, 4 unique prestige classes, and several epic feats.

Epic characters can't fight hordes of weaklings forever without monotony taking over, so with that in mind I'd like to recommend this handbook beig used in conjunction with Dave2008's fantastic epic monsters. Dave's epic monsters are foes truly worthy of the epic level character.

To celebrate the book's return, I have hidden a secret word within the book. The first person that leaves a review with that word in parenthesis, and has a book for sale on the Dungeon Master's Guild, will have that book purchased by me for $20 if it is "pay what you want". If you have something for sale for less than $20 but not pay what you want, then I'll buy that instead. I suggest you upload something as pay what you want, or $20 prior to leaving your answer on this page.

Your clue as to how to find the word within the book is the following: The means of finding the word can be found on the page which I had the hardest time placing within the book.

Newest: The Curse of Ylem Grav (Adventure)

An adventure that can be easily implemented into any campaign, or even extend into being a campaign all onto itself. It is modular in nature, in order to have it takes exactly as much time as you wish it to, while catering for groups of any level or size.

Intelligence Matters

5 pages of new subclasses, rules, feats, and spells; all of which are designed to add value to what is commonly the most undervalued ability in the game.

Vampires

17 pages of rules designed to both make various vampire races a balanced player option, as well as raise the potential of npc vampires in order to make truly terrifying, ancient vampiric villains that rival the gods.

Golemancy

12 pages of rules and player options dedicated to crafting golems. Included are standard, automated golems, as well as both piloted golems and gestalt golems that can join together to create a golem of considerably larger size and power than the individual components.

The Drunkard

A simple 5 page class that offers a playstyle unique to anything available within the player's handbook.

The Disfigured Mage

A simple 5 page class that offers a playstyle unique to anything available within the player's handbook.

Ranger Revised

A simple, free-to-download revision to the ranger class that fixes both all of the balancing concerns as well as the thematic concerns.

Are you going to update this to fit tasha's cauldroon? If so, is there any prediction? I'm about to start a campaign focused on epic progression, so I restricted the players to only being able to choose classes/subclasses included here.

This document is really cool! I love the flavor of everything.

I'm curious. Are you planning to make an updated version to account for the Artificer class that has come out with the Eberron: Rising from the Last War book?

Barbarian
How does Deathless Rage work in relation to Relentless Rage? Do you get to pick which one goes into effect?
Barbaric Freedom. Barbarians don't get proficiency with any armour except shields.

Bard
Inspiring Presence. Does granting group inspiration expend extra uses of it?

Druid
Level 1 Cantrips. Are first level spells always considered to be cast at 4th level or are they considered first level when cast as a Cantrip and 4+ if you use a spell slot. Also, this features makes the Druid's Cure Wounds significantly stronger than the Cleric's. Bonus feature to the Cleric's Fountain of Healing?

Magical Beast Wild Shape. Could land Druids get an extra addition here? They are still limited to CR1 where Moon Druids eventually get to CR10 so they benefit significantly less.

Wild Shape Pusher. I personally feel like the DC should be higher since parties usually aren't large enough for the DC to have any threat to the Druid. By 29, their...See more

Any chance of a printable version? Most of the parchment backgrounds are fine but the two or three pages with darker backgrounds don't seem to translate as well. The pictures are all good, it's just the backgrounds. Love the compendium and would love to have a printed version for reference!!

For the normal casting classes, you have included some kind of expanded spell slots. My question: how does this affect paladins, rangers, eldritch knights, and arcane tricksters? Do their spell slots keep scaling with their levels or do they stop at 20?

The spell slots of all of the classes stop at 20. They only gain more of select levels if they have an ability that gives them more (which the partial casters do not).

Thanks for reporting the issue!
I have been without the internet for the last month and it will take me some time to catch up on everything, but I will fix it as soon as I can.
In the meantime, the missing ability is the following: "Choose an Eldritch Invocation you have already chosen, and double its effects (if possible)."

It seems unnecessary to have $2 in the name of the product, as the price is readily apparently.

Fair point.
My issue was that you can't delete things from this site, so in order to remove old products I simply made them private. That of course cluttered my edit pages where they are still visible, so I renamed the still available products so they would be grouped together and make life easier on myself.

I took it out just the same - I instead edited the names of the private pages to achieve the same effect.

I have downloaded previous versions and I like the content and hope to get to use it later in my campaign. However, in later versions, many of the pages are covered in dark splatter and are too difficult to read.

I think I'm going to get rid of most of those textures in my products.
I thought they made it look better, but now I have my doubts., and as you mentioned, they certainly aren't practical.
Within a few days, there should be an updated version with them removed.

As written, the fighter seems OP. You get an ability that allows you to make an unlimited amount of reactions. This is pretty strong on its own.
But then a little later, you get an ability the allows you to give yourself and all allies within 30' 20d10 temp HP as a reaction, before resolving the triggering attack. And this ability doesn't have limited uses. It's basically 20d10 damage reduction for all of your allies within 30', against all attacks.

Thanks for mentioning that! I intended to make that ability once per long rest, but seemingly I forgot to mention that part. It is fixed now.

Hello, sorry if this question is a little "noobish" but, is this another different book from your previous Epic Level Handbook I've purchased?

It is the same book. The previous one got taken down and I had to rename it.

The only things that are different from the latest version of the book that was removed is a couple of new feats, the PrCs, and the PDF itself being better quality (higher resolution, hyperlinks).

That is impossible. Dungeon Master's Guild removed the old version from the site (which is why I had to re-upload it with a different title), with it being removed, I cannot upload new versions of it.

Also, any particular reason for the lich, vampire, and lycanthrope PrC?

Regarding the Vampire and Lycanthrope, they are there mostly because the rules for being them in the MM are kind of crappy. They are unusable as they are as they are essentially power for nothing. Doing it this way adds an opportunity cost that makes those options far more practical. And I really like them too - I personally would love to play as a lycan or vampire but without solid rules including opportunity costs involved, it is impossible.

It isn't just a straight conversion either. The Master Vampire can eventually get rid of his aversion to sunlight which for me at least is of huge importance. I wouldn't even consider playing a vampire without that potential - it is too much of an inconvenience for the party. The Greater Lycanthrope is my absolute favorite. Not only does it expand the options for animals to infinity, but it adds an implicit lore value which I really love. These guys aren't just lycans that are stronger than the others - they are to originators of all of the lycan lines. The...See more

To Customer Name Withheld (The first person to leave a review over there).
I wish I could respond to the review directly because starting a discussion is kind of clunky, but I'd like to thank you for your review. It was well thought out and I'm glad that it wasn't 5 stars. I do appreciate fly-by 5 star givers, but well-reasoned commentary is much more valuable and your grading scale is more authentic (let's face it, very little in life is flawless).

Anyway, the point of writing this discussion is because your commentary made me feel the need to clarify one thing: the Epic PrCs and extended class levels to 30 aren't as comparable as you think they are.
The Epic PrCs cannot increase one's proficiency or hit dice beyond a 20th level character (although higher HD can replace lower sub-20 HD) whereas taking levels 21-30 in a class can. They are there as just another option to be made available for a level 30 character, or for those that really want to get in there early and are willing to delay...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
