Wayward Fey

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Feywild is a perilous land filled with hags and fomorians, but also with playful pixies and benevolent unicorns.

Join to these ranks the dutiful Silver Knight, the playful Streamling or the majesty of the Grandmother Dryad.

This supplement provides you with advice, statistics, recommended treasure and useful background and flavor notes for using six new kinds of fey in your game.  The creatures in this work range from the benevolent Chime to the ravenous Dream Eater and will provide you with new and provocative options for your game.

Also included are options for lateral advancement of player characters with a fey theme and a variant Archfey patron for Warlocks.

I love the concept of the Dream Eaters, and have some questions about how they play at the table.

1.) Is a party attacked by Dream Eaters in a collective, shared dream, or do the Dream Eaters prey on individuals only? Trying to work out the party dynamic here...

2.) Does the Charisma Slam attack represent the attack bonus and damage from any dream-weapon the dream-foe might be wielding?

3.) For the Charisma Drain ability, how does one manage the number of hours a Dreamer spends in the Dreamscape? Since I imagine dream-time is warped, is this an arbitrary DM decision?

4.) For elves in Trance state, what would precipitate an elf to enter the Dreamscape upon finding his human party members can't be roused? Perhaps an Arcana check to understand what is going on and that entering the Dreamscape is an option?

So I’m glad that this thing I wrote like 6 years ago has had legs.

The dream eater is clever, and so like I wrote in the text in media’s res is how to do the session start. I would say begin with one player character and discover the others as the shared dream evolves.

All attack figures are math comprehensive so no additional math is needed to get to the attack and damage figures. I didn’t contemplate a dream spun weapon so that could add some bonus sure.

Elves do not sleep and so the dream eater isn’t a natural predator on them. I would suggest your elf players to wake up and discover their friends all incapacitated. I would also suggest that you throw in a threat for that elf to deal with in the waking world, like monsters trying to murder their dreamscapes friends while they slumber.

Hey I would like to use one or two of your creations in a massive redesign I have planned for Hags. Please contact me. If I get no response I will, at minimum give you full credit for the creation of said creatures in my reference pages.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
