War Mage (English)

A Wizard’s Arcane Tradition for D&D 5E compatible with any high fantasy settings, like Forgotten Realms, featuring a wizard that received martial training to fight at war with both weapon and magic.

The War Mage gains limited martial features, like proficiency with weapons and armor, and the Extra Attack feature, and they combine these benefits with the ability to imbue their weapons with elemental arcane magic, dealing great bursts of damage, while creating protective wards to reduce the damage they take.

The War Caster can be a secondary front rank character while still being an effective main spellcaster.

"The attack deals additional 1d6 damage of the chosen type
per level of the expanded spell slot on a hit, or half as much
on a miss. The damage increases by 1d6 if the attack is
melee."

What does this entirely mean?
How does the damage do half if it misses?

I happen to like how this is done. But this part dawns me a bit.

I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but I personally feel it's too overpowered. Say you have a Greatsword (2d6 slashing damage) and use a third level spell slot. That would be 5d6 slashing and deal possibly 30 damage. Though it's true that a "Fireball" could do more damage, it also puts your allies in danger. I also feel that giving wizards simple weapons and light armor makes it too much like a warlock or sorcerer which sort-of defeats the wizard ideal. Great potential though!

I would like to point out the a Paladin can already do that with Divine Smite, additionally the Blade Singer from SCAG gives a melee option to wizards, which is nothing new. Giving a wizard the ability to wear armor and use a weapon hardly makes it like a sorc or walrock, they both mehcanically function completely differently in how they use magic.

Not only can a paladin already do that but he can do it with D8 and heavy armor with no multiclass or feat investment. If you're running with a greatsword and pure wizard with this build, you're going to be a glass cannon.

This is actually dreadfully weak compared to published WotC material. Bladesinger is better in every way to this tradition.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
