Nothing has saving throw proficiencies as far as I can tell. Is that deliberate?

It is deliberate—for a few reasons.

1) One thing we've noticed around our 5e tables is that it's easy for a good DM to miss the saving throw bonuses in the heat of battle. Not every time and not every DM, of course, but often enough to give me pause as a designer.

2) 5e's more flexible approach to monster ability scores frees a monster designer to just hand out a high ability score when warranted. We don't *need* to do it just to make the monster combat viable, so we'd save saving throw bonuses for cases where there's a significant gap between "the monster's overall ability score" and "the defensive, saving throw aspect of the ability score." If that's key to the concept of the monster, then sure, go with the saving throw bonus. But as the MM notes, most creatures don't have that kind of gap.

3) Undead in particular have so many resistances and immunities that it's often piling on to grant a saving throw bonus, too.

I am glad I bought this product. It has a wide variety of classic undead from various books from prior editions, updated to Fifth edition with a good execution of their essential powers that made their original versions terrifying in play. To me, the stats look well put together at least upon reading. Though I have to put a caveat I have not yet used them in my game and until I do so, I won't really know if there are any problems with any of the monster abilities or if the Challenge ratings are accurate. But one thing I can say already is that just reading each entry made me really want to run each of these undead in my campaign. Also, I love the layout, with each combat stat blocks on its own page and easily identified. That is very important to me when running a complex encounter. This is exactly the kind of monster PDF I'd like to see more of in the DMs Guild, and I hope I get to use every creature in this one to scare and delight my players.

Forgot to add in the review: I believe that some of the abilities (for example the gaslight's Confusing Fog) should have saves. Those abilities would be, in my opinion, unfair to the players without the saves.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
